Ordered new vinyl windows. Jamb size is 6 inches but should have been 4 inches. How should I make it flush with the drywall?

Bringing it back to the window manufacturer is out of the question. It's a long and complicated story. So I'm left with fixing this on my own.

The new replacement windows haven't been installed yet. What's the best way to approach this?

Post a picture would be a good way to start. The windows generally come as 4-9/16 and have an applied extension jamb to make the depth 6-9/16. So it "should" be removable if I am not mistaken, just a case of how.

Probably going to be easier to just make them out of wood than rip down those vinyl sections.

If they were ordered correctly, have them re-made or just pay for the carpentry work and materials.
