The 5500 is their flagship window but I am not sure of the differences in the door models.

There are a couple of really good Simonton dealers that contribute here so I will wait from them to post up and give the final ruling.

Well, couldn't wait for more info, so The contractor is going switch out the 5300 for a 5500 when it arrives. We ordered the basic 5500 patio door with no upgrades, and given that, the contractor didn't think there was much of difference between the two models, but said it was up to me on what I wanted to do.

Still wonder what, if any differences there are between the 5300 and a basic no frills 5500 patio door, if anyone cares to chime in. Thanks!

Yep, did that twice. The woman who assisted me didn't seem to know much, as she was ambiguous about the differences.
