Are Alside sliding doors any good? I was quoted $1750 for one, installed. Can't find too much on here about those kind of doors.

You'll find plenty of opinion on their windows... Door offering is very consistent with their windows in my experience.

RE: Alside sliding doors

thanks----in your opinion is the 6100 sliding door good, and is 1750 a good price?

RE: Alside sliding doors

No idea on the price but a little searching will tell you that no pro in is right mind will sell you anything in a window or door manufactured by or for Alside!

RE: Alside sliding doors

Personally I'd recommend a door with a fully welded frame and a better Air Infiltration(AI) rating. Some doors are as low as .06cfm3.
A sliding door is a huge opening in your wall so you really want to make sure that you get it right.
Depending on options and install circumstances, $1750 is on the low-end for a good door, but not completely out of the ballpark. You are probably gonna be around $2k give or take. Obviously more options can send that higher pretty quickly.

RE: Alside sliding doors

The 6100 is actually not a terrible door. It is a knock down frame (i.e. not fully welded).

If you are going to be at or around that price point, I think a door that fit the criteria that HomeSealed mentioned would be worth considering.

Look for something with some nice features, great aesthetics, tight air numbers, good thermal data, and a high Design Pressure.
