Pictures of your existing windows will certainly help.

Sorry about that! As you can see from this one shot, there is some sort of metal track that they slide up and down along. Every window is double-hung, 6 over 6, the "shorter, squatter" sort you typically find in a late 60s split level.

I no longer remember how to embed pictures, so here's a link to a few more. With the exception of one pane, all glass is intact. They are all wood.

They appear to me to be Woodco either Jax or ROW's and in my opinion not worth saving as they were essentially a builders grade at the time.

I am not sure I would consider anything from 1969 historic and valuable as a result of that age.

If the windows are in good shape, insulated storms would go a long way but you don't sound like you want that option.

Thanks for the responses. I guess this is why one can't simply say that anything over 30 years is worth saving, right? I do appreciate your input ... we are likely biting the bullet, then, and doing the full replacement.

There is ALWAYS a but or an exception, and 30 yr old windows as stated above are more than likely nothing special nor historic.
