buying used windows?

Hi all,
We are gradually updating a home in New england and I've run across (on craigslist) a gorgeous pella window- 98"w X63" height- that perfectly fits in our master bedroom. Am I crazy to consider installing a window of that size used? It would be replacing two rotted windows, but considerably expanding the size. We're in a post and beam home.

Normally i am dead set against ever buying used windows, however, in this case its probably a new window in which the builder ordered the wrong size and is probably stuck. Also, its only one window. Be sure there is no seal failure( fogging) of any sorts.

Inspect it, operate it. If everything checks out and it is cheap enough (like dirt cheap) then go for it.

Yes, $1000 for a window that cost 10k new :)

If you were gonna pay $10k for something to fit in a 98 x 63 opening it had better grant you three wishes and then some. $1k is too much. If you are buying used, this is something that should be in the range of a couple hundred bucks at most.

Even if it were brand new just an error and the supplier was stuck with it he should probably discount it more than that. He does not need to know the size is perfect for you, let me think your going to settle and need to do quite a bit of modification to be able to use it.
