WHAT Window to Buy???

I know I have seen it several times here but it seems like everyone lived in the wrong climate. I live in Albany, NY, where it gets pretty cold and windy in the winter. I have a 50 year old house with 4 inch walls and I am installing new construction windows. I want white fiberglass or vinyl inside and out one because I heard it is better for energy conservation and 2 because I dont want to ever have to paint or stain anything. So Finally the question, which window do I buy. I am 33 and I only want to buy these once and I am planning on staying awhile at this house so I want good windows. Help me out

RE: WHAT Window to Buy???

There are many good windows available just as there are many junk windows. The best advice I can give you is to educate yourself so you understand the differences.

Some of the better vinyl brands that are likely available to you are Simonton, Gorell, Softlite, and Okna. There are probably more but, you will have to search to find them in your area.

Keep in mind the best window is useless unless you get a top-notch installation by an experienced installer.
