What to look for in a window?

I'm in the process of building a house now, and I know there are tons of different windows out there. What are some different things to look for in windows? Are there any brands some would recommend over others.

Thanks for any help.

Need to start with some idea of what you want the windows to look like both interior and exterior (style, color, wood, vinyl, composite)? What sort of budget your looking at? Part of the country your building? Type of house?

+1 to MWM's comments. I'd add that in addition to looks and budget, you'll want to assess your goals for the project. Are you looking for something on the leading edge of technology and energy efficiency? ...something that is "good enough" in that regard, but visually striking?... or something that just offers a great "bang for the buck"?
Your location will also dictate which product choices that you have available.
A few of my personal favs in each material:

Vinyl: HiMark by Okna, Sunrise Restorations, Softlite Elements, Polaris UltraWeld

Wood: Marvin,Kolbe

Composite/fiberglass: Starmark, Marvin Integrity, Inline
