Looking for sun-shade options for 2nd floor room

I have a large room on the 2nd floor, with huge west facing windows. The windows are old, cracked, and need to be replaced. Unfortunately, that is a multi-thousand dollar project that I won't be able to take on soon.

I have installed sun-blocking shades on the inside of the room, and this has helped a bit, but the room still gets very hot in the afternoon. I measured the temperature of the shades, and they get to 110+ degrees during the summer.

I'm thinking I need to install something on the outside, but they need to be controlled from the inside of the house, since it's on the 2nd floor. Anyone have any suggestions? I can't seem to find something that would work well.

Not familiar with anything other then an awning type application but I am not sure I would spend anything else on them before you get the new units.

Possible some tint on the exterior of the windows?
