Wall Size and Inside Mount Shades for Sliding Patio Doors

Hi ,

We are planning to install Milgard Tuscany Series Sliding Patio Door. I would like to use inside-mount vertical cellular shades for these and realized that installing them on a 4-inch wall will not provide the depth needed for installing the shades.

We will be framing this wall in the next month and I am wondering if a 6-inch wall will provide the required depth for inside-mount shades.

Looking for some advise on how to handle this.

2x6 wall should do it.

Ask them if they have an internal mini-blinds option.

Cleaner and easier to use.

Thank You.

I stopped by at our local home-depot to checkout the depth of vertical shades and the rep there mentioned that sliding doors can only be used with outside-mount shades and inside-mount is not recommended. I am guessing he didn't understand my question !

There is a reason that the window pros are the ones that you want to deal with and can source the right application for your needs.

As long as the inside mount shade does not encroach on the glide path of the active panel, they can be used.
