What material to use for sliding patio doors ?

i am confused between using timber (wood ) OR aluminium for my patio doors. they need to be sliding as there not enough space to swing the doors.

from what i know aluminium is cheaper...timber may look better...i am slightly biased towards aluminium i think its lighter and will glide easily..

A well engineered door will work properly regardless of weight.

I think you need to go with what you will like better in terms of the look.

WOW put it well. Modern doors are much easier to operate than they were in the past. At least if it's a quality product. I'd focus on looks first.

Where are you located? I would not recommend aluminum for anything but warm, arid climates.
