| I am normally over on the kitchen forum, since that is whre our major reno is happening, but we have just decided to replace the 37 windows in our 17 year old home, instead of having to go through having work done again in 2 years - they are pretty near the end of their life...
I have no idea how to tell the difference between various suppliers selling features of their windows! We are going with vinyl, instead of wood. Can anyone tell me the benefits of having a vinyl window with an aluminum clad frame of hte exterior vs. plain vinyl? Also - any glaring issues with these 2 window choices: www.unitechwindows.com http://www.novationwindows.com/resources/files/NovationWindowBrochure% 20.pdf All windows are casement windows (I think! - they open with a crank to the side - I hope that is correct terminology) Thanks for any help!

| Not a whole lot of information out there about either one. Unitech NFRC numbers are very average and that doesn't tell you the whole story by any means. The Novanation is a pocket sill window. Pocket sill windows are not terrible, however, there are some inherent issues with a pocket sill design that are not preferable. |
