Andersen 200 Series as insert?

| Does anyone know if removing the nail flange on the 200 series would basically result in a 400 series insert style window? It seems both have the 3 1/4" jamb, so I was thinking they may be the same basic frame and such with lower cost glass options?

| You could insert it into a new opening and install it as you would a higher end wood window but NO it cannot be used as a true insert window. The frame and sill construction is completely not suitable for this type of application |

| @ millworkman- Thanks for the clarification. Advice on other inserts than the 400? It seems a bit pricy for the quality. | You have to look at the section drawing below to see that it is 4 3/8" deep. Insert windows are designed to fit between the exterior trim and the inside stops/stool. Plus the Tilt-Wash has a flat sill - so it wouldn't sit right on an existing sloped sill. |

| When I replaced my windows I think Woodwright was the only Andersen insert option. It now looks like you can get Tilt-Wash inserts and also a 100 Series window that can be installed as an insert - is that what you mean by "composite by Andersen"? I was looking for wood interiors. Marvin Ultimate was my first choice but they were a little too expensive for my budget. Andersen Woodwright was a close second and I have been very happy with them. I also looked at Harvey but the quality was a big step down from Marvin and Andersen. I didn't talk to Pella or Renewal by Andersen just because I didn't like their sales approaches. Can't comment on the Andersen 100 Series or other options - but I'm sure others will! |

| The Andersen 100 is the builder version of the Fibrex framed Renewal windows. 10 yr warranty max. That about says it all. |
