Whichever window is installed properly is the more efficient unit.

What do you want the windows to look and be like?

That is usually the more important question and decision making variable when it comes to choosing wood or vinyl.

How much money do you have to spend?

a higher end vinyl will render better performance numbers/ energy efficiency than a wood window and by a rather large margin. of course installation is paramount.
