RE: Schuco

Nearly all replacement companies have extensive web sites including Schuco which I think are manufactured in Illinois. We recently had all of our windows replaced with Ply Gem vinyl windows and we are very pleased. A word of advice, go with double hung windows. these windows are made so they tilt inside for easy cleaning of the outside of the windows. If the windows are not double hung you will only be able to tile in the bottom half or the window. This would be a real problem especially if you have screens installed as we did. A double hung window is more expensive but well worth it if you have a two story house.

I am a proud owner of Schuco Windows and one sliding patio door. All of them triple pane glass, glazed, krypton-filled. Replaced my old windows 1 year ago. Immediately noticed substantial improvement in the level of the outside noises coming into the house. My house is practically sound-proof now. I like the German engineering quality, it does speak for itself. Certainly, the only drawback in the US is that all windows really come with very primitive hardware (handles, opening mechanisms)- but you can't change it - it's more or less the same across all brands, and Schuco is no exception. In Russia, I used to have my windows opening in three dimensions just by moving the handle with two fingers... those days are gone. But I am very happy with my choice of Schuco. Price-wise - turned out to be almost the same as Pella double-panes.

I have SCHUCO windows. They are 6 years old. They need some repair and i have been fighting with them for 10 months. No end in site on this fight. The window s have warped and air just blows in. My Opinion is buy somewhere else. You get treated like an ass by Schuco. Want more info feel free to ask

Its now been 11 months and all i am getting is stall tactics from schuco. Still no sign of anything happening. I paid almost $9,000 for 8 windows only because i felt they were a better window. They only lasted 6 years.

RE: Problem with Schuco

I replaced all the windows in the house with Schuco triple-pane kryton-filled. I'm happy with all of them, EXCEPT ONE.

It's a large "in-line slider," and similar to what Paul seems to be indicating air is just blowing in between the right and left panes. Kind of defeats the purpose of having three panes of glass.

I now have water pooling in the slider gap due to condensation from the cold wind blowing in, and water on the surface of the plastic frame has turned to ice. Ice INSIDE the house due to the chilling wind blowing in. It's ridiculous!

Kris I would get on the phone as soon as possible with your dealer. Get the problem fixed before Schuco sells to Four Seasons.

RE: Schuco

Just saw this thread. I had 14 windows and a bay window installed by NuView in Clifton, VA. This was was the worst disaster of any construction job I have ever had done, the latches don't work, Shucco doesn't stand behind them. I believe it is because they were installed incorrectly. DO NOT GET THE push button locks (forget what the name is really called for those locks) they look cool but do NOT work and came from the factory with stripped screws on 8 windows which NuView tried to blame me for. I called Shucco and basically they say it is NuView's fault. I think they are nice windows but the locks and the installer suck.

We almost went to court. If you live in Northern, VA, I will gladly show you what a crappy job they did. The bay window was the wrong one and after filing a BBB report (which is registered to this day) they came back and installed a showroom bay window which was like 6" too small and leaks a lot of air to this day.

NuView in Clifton VA is just awful and they DO NOT stand behind anything period!!! They yelled at my wife and me. I can not call them to fix the bay window since it took like a year to get one installed.

I would stay away from Shucco and especially NuView.

RE: Schuco

NuView has been out of business for several years. Schuco USA was sold last year. The new company is Force V Environmental. If you call them up and ask nicely, I've heard they might be willing to help out. Keep in mind when talking to them that they have no obligation to do anything and whatever they are willing to do is just in the interest of customer relations.

RE: Schuco

I just got a quote from FJB/Clearwater for replacement windows. All custom made. Anyone do business with these people? They are out of Rocky Hill, CT. Seems a bit pricey, but look well made.

RE: Schuco

I would stay far away from Schuco / Force V Environmental! Its a new company starting out in this bad economy, not sure if the new plant is even open yet. The warranty on your windows is only as good as the company manufacturing them. Look at all the past Schuco customers now! Like skydawggy said Force V Environmental has no obligation to fix any old Schuco windows and whatever they are willing to do is just in the interest of customer relations. I feel bad for the 1000's of Schuco customers out there that spent there hard earned money on this product.
Its amazing that any reputable company would even sell the new Force V window (aka Schuco). I would not be able to honestly tell a potential customers to invest there hard earned money in such a company.

Did FJB explain the situation to you about the now out of business Schuco?

Remember that Force V was started by Schuco Executives.
There are many long standing and reputable manufactures out there to look at.
I would really do some more research before I would invest my money...

RE: Schuco

So says you!

Perhaps the new company will do better but, that's yet to be seen. All consumers have to go on at this point is your word as a Schuco dealer and Schuco's past history. One could say you are trying to wash away Schuco's past because it hurts you as a Schuco dealer. I'm taking a wait and see attitude. I sincerely hope Force V Environmental does live up to your claims. We will see. They will continue to carry the Schuco stigma until they change consumers preception by actions, not words.
