Use these at the top and a ordinary hook and eye on the bottom interior to hold it shut. I have seen nor heard of anyone ever using wood half screens.

Thanks. How do I remove the old painted over fasteners? I can't even see if there is a screw. Is there typically? Or will I need to pry it out somehow?

For small quantities, your best bet is probably a big box store.

Larger quantities...check Amazon.

Aren't you going to use wood screens?

Nope. Aluminium for ease of maintenance. Maybe a vanilla/tan color to match the existing paint on the windows.

Then those hangers will not work as they are for wood screens. Nor will a hook and eye.

Hmmm. Any other suggestions, millworkman/anyone else? Thanks, again.

Maybe friction hangers at top and loop latches at bottom?
