I'd also suggest attending some local craft fairs. Many crafters would be more than happy to make quantity amounts of their merchandise for wedding favors. Many of the merchandise you find will be original designs and will therefore be unique for you're wedding.

That is how I started in the favor business for weddings, showers etc.

I just sold my leftover wedding favors at www.recycleyourwedding.com. They have a lot of different items available, and it's a great concept- recycle your wedding and help another couple plan their wedding.

For crafters who have an embroidery machine, these are nice favors to make. $10 and some thread, the machine does most of the work!! I think these are gorgeous!
