My Daughter the Bride

Today is the day, you have dreamed of all your life,
But I too have dreamed, of the day you’d become a wife.
When you were a little girl, you played dress-up as the bride,
The daydream would then come, I’d be standing by your side.

We would then be looking, at a reflection in the mirror,
You in your dress, me with a tear.
You would be so beautiful, you’d take my breath away,
Your eyes so bright and dancing, it had to be your day.

The reflection in the mirror would change, you are little again,
Playing like a bride, as my heart remembers when.
The memories come rushing back, just like it were yesterday,
Laughing, singing, talking and the games that we would play.

I come back to reality, to see you standing there,
I have so much to tell you, so many things to share.
I would let you know, you are everything to me,
From the moment you were in my arms, together we would be.

I am so very proud, of the woman you are today,
I wipe away a tear of pride, as I hand you your bouquet.
When some day you have a daughter, and are in my place,
Please remember fondly, this look upon my face.

For it holds much more than love, it holds your very heart,
You are my love, my life, my child, though we will be apart.
I am losing my little girl, to a wonderful loving man,
But I know you will be fine, for this is in God’s plan.

As I leave you now to make the walk, you are destined for,
I give you one last kiss for luck, and my love forevermore.

Sweetpea, do you have something like that for mothers of sons? Do you think I could get through it without crying? (The second question is just a joke!)

A Parents Prayer On Your Wedding Day

May your day be filled with happiness,
And the sun shine on your life;
May joy and laughter be with you,
As you become husband and wife.
May the angels sing with joy for you,
On this your wedding day;
A song of celebration,
That will follow you on life's way.
We pray that God will bless you,
No matter where you go;
That love and laughter and children,
Will fill your happy home.
Our hearts are filled with love and pride,
As we watch you standing there;
We wish you the joy you've given us,
This is your parent's prayer.

As You are Married…

When you were just a little child,
I thanked the Lord with pride
As you wobbled to your feet
And took your first big stride…
And my heart went with you.

On that very first day of school,
As you were walking through
A door into a whole new world,
Teardrops blurred my view,
And my heart went with you.

And when I blinked again
And you were suddenly all grown,
I prayed to God to keep you safe
As you went out on your own…
And my heart went with you.

And now as you are married,
And your journey together is blessed,
I pray for your true happiness
And wish you heaven’s best…

On Your Wedding Day

Today is the day you will always remember
the greatest in anyone's life.
You'll start off the day just two people in love
and end it as Husband and Wife

It's a brand-new beginning, the start of a journey,
with moments to cherish and treasure
and although there'll be times when you both disagree
these will surely be outweighed by pleasure

You'll have heard many words of advice in the past
when the secrets of mariage were spoken,
but you know that the answers lie hidden inside
where the bond of true love lives unbroken.

So live happy forever as lovers and friends
it's the dawn of a new life for you,
as you stand there together with love in your eyes
from the moment you whisper " I Do"

And, with luck, all your hopes and your dreams can be real
may success find its way to your hearts,
tommorow can bring you the greatest of joys
but today is the day it all starts.
