Theme For Wedding

My daughter is getting married next July 7, 2007, since the date comes out to 777 and that being a luck combination of numbers was wondering what kind of decorations we could use and what kind of table favors we could use keeping in mind the numbers 777.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Lucky bamboo for table favors or part of the decorations. One of the prettiest centerpieces I've seen was a combo of small bamboo, small orchids, and other things I cannot remember.

Lucky charms! No seriously, using symbols of luck from around the world incorporated in the centerpieces, like the lucky bamboo. A wishing well, for good luck of course.

"-If we send out seeds in the fall and they don't plant them until spring, will the seeds still be good and will they grow?" If you send packaged seeds, a very high % of the seeds Will germinate and grow. Packaged seeds will eliminate many possible problems with seed quality. Sunflower seeds have a very high germination rate. I planted 48 seeds in 24 containers for my brother this year and every one germinated & grew until I eliminated the weaker plant in each container. "-Is there a type of sunflower that people could plant indoors and would grow?" I'm not sure I would suggest that folks plant them indoors, though. If you pick 50 guests at random from your list of folks to invite, it's likely that only a very few would have the ability to time the planting & rear the seeds so they are in a condition to be planted after danger of frost is past. Sunflowers require plenty of light & don't like to be over-watered. Plants from seed require some careful attention to cultural conditions. Perhaps you could suggest planting outdoors on a particular date (research required on your part to determine, by zone, planting time). If most of the people you invite live near you, you could ask the Extension Office how developed the plants will be at the time of the wedding (or ask a farmer near you who grows them), so you could tell those you invite what to look for as your wedding draws near. Congratulations. I can't make suggestions of flowers as I don't know this climate well enough yet. But I would suggest looking at what plants do well as cut flowers, some don't. You will need them to stay fresh looking for many hours. Having got married recently myself I can say that one con I can think of is that typically when you order flowers your bouquet is made the morning of the wedding so everytihng is fresh. I would assume you will have better things to do morning of so that would mean doing all the flowers the night before. I did not do my bouquet but we did do all the flowers in the church. We bought the flowers from a good wholesaler and then arranged them ourselves. Less risky than growing your own. We used our own home grown greenry though. OT: Ideas for wine-themed shower/wedding?

Well, I've made a basket to use for the cards at her shower.... because of the wine theme, I tried to weave what's supposed to look like an Italian urn. I bought a few fake grape clusters and raffia to decorate it. I was going to attach them to the handles or rim -- or maybe make a raffia "belt" to hang the grapes at the front of the basket 'belly'. I'm not really sure how to decorate it at this point. Maybe I should weave a completely different basket??? This pic shows the color/shape well -- I made it quite large because she'll only have one shower and it will be a 'fee' shower:

A dear friend's daughter had a western theme reception and all the guests were instructed to wear western attire. However, the bride wanted a formal church wedding. So, the groom and grooms men wore long tail tuxes. For the reception, the bride had a detachable train & changed to white lace up ropers and the grooms men kept the tails and changed to black Levis and boots and hats. The tables were decorated with old cowboy boots (the mother of the bride had a friend who collects them) and mason jars with wildflowers. Barbeque was served. While we were waiting, a slide show o fthe bride and groom from childhood through courtship played. Bales of hay ringed the dance floor. The dancing began with a family tradition - a grand march. They are so much fun, but someone has to know how to lead them. The bride and groom first dance was, "May I have this dance for the rest of my life?" and father/daughter dance was "I'll waltz across Texas with you."

I just wanted to tell you, you made a good choice. People can be petty and well, bluntly, stupid sometimes. As an illustration, my DD introduced a fellow she dated a couple of times, a high school friend to a girl at college. They hit it off, dated, became engaged, everyone still friends. Now, it's time for the wedding. Groom suggested that DD be included because she was close friend, and introduced them. Bride instead insisted that ALL EX GIRLFRIENDS be dropped from the list. Guess who is not going to the wedding let alone being acknowledged for starting this couple off?

She (DD)is laughing it off, but groom is still upset; he said other than his mom and dad, DD was the one person he wanted there.

I see no need for a theme at a wedding. The theme is the love these two share and the joining of two individuals into one family. To me, pretty flowers and bridesmaids and cake and tables are enough.

I could see the theme being used for a shower or for the rehearsal dinner. But I think of weddings as more romantic and formal.

You could do the actual ceremony very formal and do a casino type reception. Please do not think fuzzy dice, but have fun colors (las vegas sign Yellows, Turquiose, Red) play a lot of Sinatra and Martin. Have a deck of cards printed with the bride and grooms' names and date of wedding. Have it themed "Your Lucky Day". Lots of fun.

Wedding theme is allways a personal choice, some couples are only doing specific colors, some have exciting destination weddings, it is all about preference. Everyone should choose thier own wedding ceremony that will make them happy on thier special day.

dd2 had a destination wedding and her theme was beach related.

her remember the date were miniture glass bottles of sand and shells, her invitations, a beach chair.

at the brunch at the hotel, i made centerpieces of glass bowls, with yet more sand, shells, and tall taper candles (which, we had to leave...boohoo) and finally, (almost) each person recieved a full-sized beach towel.
