Thank you, Florence, for those bush-shots of Lyda Rose. Fortunately, Burlington Roses in CA also sells Lyda Rose for $11. That would brighten up that shady spot in my garden. It's 84 degrees today, here's a bouquet I picked, where Pink Peace out-shines all ... no fading, no frying in full-sun, the scent is stronger than Paul Neyron. The petals are thick, did well in last year drought and 100 degrees heat. There's an old thread where people discussed Pink Peace and The McCartney Rose. The vote? It's a tie, folks like both. gardenfanatic, maybe your monitor needs calibrating? They look golden yellow, with the last 2 pics being more lemon, on the 2 monitors I've used. There is a pink rose in the background on two pics.

I love it! The nicest thing is that all the components look as if they've always been there. As for the organic milk in cute little glass bottles: it reminds me of the discussion, several years ago in the Decorating forum, about staging a kitchen when selling the house. One member who was trying to sell her house had gone to lots of open houses in her area and said that every kitchen seemed to be staged with a KitchenAid mixer on the counter. (The advice was to have only one appliance in view, preferably a fashionable and expensive one.) Fancy brands of olive oil were also being used a lot in kitchen staging, but I don't remember organic milk.

Two summers ago Lisa, a longtime friend got married. Nothing unusual about that. For the third time. Nothing terribly usual about that. To a guy 10 years her junior. Somewhat unusual, but no unheard of. At the beautiful, upscale Ritz-Carlton in Southern California overlooking the Pacific ocean on a picture perfect day. No shortage of beautiful days in So. Calif. but I'm sure the Ritz had never hosted a wedding as garish, gaudy and colorful as Lisa's. The colors were shocking pink and bright orange. The bride wore a white bustier with a 30ft train. A woman in the wedding party wearing a hot pink mini-dress walked Lisa's Chihuahua dressed in tulle down the aisle on a long pink feather boa. Martini glasses had feather boas around the stem. Cocktails had flashing ice cubes. Inside the reception room, feather boas hung from the chandeliers. Each table represented a festive country. We sat at the Paris table. There was a large band who started playing even before dinner began as did the dancing. When you were on the dance floor, gals walked around handing out feather boas, sunglasses and other assorted gifts to the dancers. A DJ followed the band later in the evening and two film crews recorded everything. The cake was incredible. It was made up of individual cakes wrapped in orange and pink chocolate and topped with shaved chocolate and chocolate covered coffee beans. Lisa is quite an interesting gal. She worked for me about 30 years ago. Very naive. No education other than high school. She has come a long way and is now quite wealthy. The wedding cost over $100,000 and she planned every last detail herself. It was beautiful, wonderfully fun, perfect day, perfect wedding.
