What to do with the invitation copper plates

I just picked up the invitations today. The copper plates were also packed with the invitations. They seem so special and pretty, I wonder what can be done with them. Has anyone crafted them into a special way to display them?

People used to have them made into ashtrays.. but who has ashtrays anymore? The sides were curved up slightly. I guess the same thing could hold odds and ends like paper clips on a desk.

My mother had hers fitted into a trinket box lid. I don't know if it was hand crafted for her, or if it was something she could buy when she ordered her invites. I have mine just propped up on a plate holder kind of stand. Neither mine nor my mother's have curved bits. They do become quite dark and dull with time, like an old penny.
