Wedding Gift-Help
Comments (19)Personally I like giving a gift that I know they'd like - if they registered then I search the registry for a gift that's a "one of" - like a Waterford pitcher or an appliance. My favorite is giving a KitchenAid mixer because I know how much I love mine. The only time I buy place settings of china is when it's someone I barely know and I'm not personally invested in whether they remember what I gave. As for cash - this is always a tough answer because the 'usual' amount varies so much depending on region and economic abilities of the giver. After several years of no weddings we recently had several and I am so thankful to my girlfriends who answered this same question honestly. They also said $100 a person. I think we're in the same area - southeast PA and for a family member or close friend's child we usually give $200 even if we don't attend. One of my kids had a formal wedding last fall in Kennett Square and the most of the cash gifts they received were in the $150 to $200 range. I hope this helps. Good luck....See MoreWedding Gifts: Give both wedding & shower gift?
Comments (5)if you weren't invited to the shower, you don't need to give them a shower gift. If you DID go to a shower, you would give both, as you know. If you wish you had been invited to the shower, you *could* give them a shower gift, but I wonder if that might make them feel bad for not inviting you--in which case, don't label it a shower gift. But the wedding gift alone is just fine--and I bet they'll like it, LOL! it'll certainly fit w/ their decorating scheme....See MoreWedding gift: How much?
Comments (14)I remember years ago, being a brides maid for my friend and giving her a hand blown wine decanter with 4 matching glasses as a wedding gift. She opened her gifts after the wedding at the reception, while everyone was eating and displayed everything. My fragile gift was a BIG deal back then....well received. I just looked up a similar items price to say what I would have to spend "today".................$681. I was thinking $300 sounded like a lot.......See More70th Wedding Anniversary Gift Ideas Please
Comments (31)@Rho Dodendron we would buy her a ticket to fly out for their anniversary but I would still be missing. I can't take any vacation time a week before Christmas. I work retail. It's blackout month for vacation. When my parents had their 60th Anniversary, they celebrated it during the summer before. They hosted a huge party at their home. My children and I attended. Some of my sisters kids came (she has a LOT of kids) as did she. All my sisters were there, actually. They wanted to do the same this past summer for their 70th, but my nephew got married the same weekend and nobody could afford two trips to the west coast, so the wedding for my nephew took precedence. I do like some of the ideas above and will pass them on to my sisters. Thank you all for your ideas!...See Moresplinter
