Preset $ on Visa Card (gift card)
Comments (5)I like giving American Express Gift Cheques as gifts. They look like gold-colored travelers checks and come in a gold envelope with a gift card that you can write out. They work just like travelers checks for the recipient so they can be used anywhere or, if they so choose, can cash them or deposit them in their bank account just like a regular check. They have the same benefits of just giving cash or a check, but it just seems a little more special (at least to me.). I think that the last time I purchased a $100 gift cheque, it cost $101.50, so the cost is very reasonable....See MoreOrganizing Gift Cards/Reward/Membership Cards
Comments (10)Concerning gift cards, be sure to check to see if they have an expiration date (many of them actually do!). If you have a daily-reminder wall calendar, mark the expiration dates down. I'd put a note on, say, 6 months in advance and other sporadic dates saying "You have a $50 Borders card to use up!" so that they remind you that you've got them tucked away and need to redeem them. There's nothing worse than realizing too late that you've lost out on $50 of shopping power. For all those store "preferred customer cards," here's what I do. Most of them I put on a keyring. For cards I use frequently that didn't offer a keyring version, I punch a hole in the corner (away from the bar code or swipey strip). In my purse, I also carry a small rectangular zip pouch that I carry coupons, receipts, paint chips, etc. in, and I tuck in most of the other cards I have and the Bed Bath & Beyond 20%-off coupons (I never shop there without one!). Sometimes I'm tempted to just leave that pouch in the glove compartment (as long as none of those receipts have my full credit card number on them!), so it's there if I need it. Always happens that if I leave the pouch at home, that'll be the time that I need something in it....See MoreIdeas for a fun way to send Gift Cards as a Housewarming Gift
Comments (19)Yah, I have given wallets that i filled with gift cards too-- not sure what i would use for a housewarming gift. I did find some inexpensive new home journals/maintenance record books.. most of the info I'd expect them to keep online/on the cloud.. but really, I am only looking for a vehicle for gift cars so it could work for the purpose. Same with a photo album-- they're all fully online/cloud. Will keep looking for popup cards and for books/photo albums. (along with baby gifts-- we'll soon have a virtual baby shower for nephew and his wife!) Thanks all!...See MoreIf you had an Etsy gift card, what would you buy?
Comments (34)Sue, did you contact the seller? I'd be LIVID. Allison, I can't wait until the Beleek pitcher gets here. I've got more than several items coming and I can't wait to get them. Huge brag but relevant to what I just ordered from Etsy. My 9th grader DGS sent me an email this morning and this is what he wrote, "At Quizbowl a few days ago I got a question about the English king who was most involved in the Crusades, and I answered Richard I because you talked about it! " I've been smiling all day because I'm obsessed with that era, & DGS is really into history just like his dad and DH. I never thought anyone in my family paid attention to my babbling over medieval times. DGS was listening. Over the years I've bought miniature metal knights off Ebay & DGS still has them on the windowsill next to his bed. Awww. I'm looking for a Richard I knight to add to this gift. Honestly, buying meaningful gifts for my family to remember me by means more than buying myself a big bauble. Maybe if I were younger, but not now. It's the little things that makes my world go round. This is a picture from a 1933 book, and I know people shouldn't tear pictures out, but it's what I needed. Richard I during the Crusades. Total was $35....See Moreashleyrourk_vpsb_k12_la_us
