walking down isle on my wedding with son and father

THIS IS MY SECOND MARRIAGE. MY FATHER WALKED ME DOWN THE ISLE AND GAVE ME WAY, THE FIRST TIME. THIS TIME I WANT BOTH, MY FATHER AND MY 21 YEAR OLD SON, WHO WILL BE DEPLOYED TO IRAQ AFTER MY WEDDING, TO WALK ME DOWN THE ISLE. IS THAT STRANGE TO ANYONE? WILL IT LOOK WIERD? MY SON AND I ARE VERY CLOSE AND I INITIALLY WANTED ONLY HIM TO WALK ME DOWN BUT I DO NOT WANT TO HURT MY FATHER'S FEELINGS, HE IS A GREAT FATHER AND DESERVES ALL THE RESPECT IN THE WORLD..... THOUGHTS?

I think it is an absolutely charming idea. I would love to see a wedding like that.

I don't know your dad, of course, but if you choose just to have your son escort you, I would be surprised if your dad were upset and saw it as any kind of disrespect. If you are old enough to have a son in the military, you are of an age at which I would think most women wouldn't be having their fathers walk them down the aisle anyway -- especially not for a second wedding.

In fact, if I were your father, I would prefer it -- because I would want to SEE your son walking you down the aisle.

Congratulations on your wedding, and good luck to your son in Iraq.

I agree with Gellchom that your son is a more appropriate escort than your father when you have a grown son. Your father should be proud to see you with his grandson. You can have a first dance with your father to honor him.

One thought--if you decide to have both walk you down the aisle, be sure that the dress you plan to wear can fit down the aisle with the two men and you without a problem of the skirt being too wide.

To all of you, congratulations!
