Wedding Dress

I posess a never-married in (note I didn't say never worn)Lady Eleanor Cinderella-type wedding dress. It was purchased at David's Bridal about 4 years ago for $600+ but the wedding was cancelled. It is marked size 18 but the bride-to-be was a 14. It comes with a long strapless Valmont bra, 38D. It's been stored in a white garment bag.

The bodice is heavily beaded and the skirt has many layers. The train is quite impressive and banded in a wide satin ribbon. It has been tried on several times and worn for several hours at a mock wedding in the nursing home I work in. There is a a small discolored area on the slip layer that brushes the floor, will probably come out with cleaning.

I've been wrestling with it for 4 years--every time I open my coat closet. It's time for it to go live with a young lady who will love and appreciate it and start a new life of love and happiness.

If you or some young lady you know like the dress and are the size mentioned, please contact me. I'll send it to you for free if you pay the shipping and promise to send me a wedding picture.

Wow!

I neither need it myself, nor know of anyone who does, but what a wonderfully kind gesture on your part to offer it to someone! It's gorgeous, and I hope the right lady comes along who can put it to good use! :-)

RE: Wedding Dress

I agree -- I'm astounded by the kindness of the offer.

Let's keep bumping this thread up to the top so that it doesn't get lost, and so that someone can take advantage of Dian's generosity.

Dian, please post again when you have found a "taker", so that we can let the thread move down.

RE: Wedding Dress

That was so sweet of you! Thank you for doing that! :)

RE: Wedding Dress

What a lovely and generous thing to do. I'm sure you have inspired many of us to follow your example. The people at the nursing home are very lucky to have someone so kind taking care of them.

And I think it is sweet that you want the lucky recipient to send you a wedding photo!

May your generosity be rewarded with your own happy ever after. Judging from your values, it's a good bet that it will.

RE: Wedding Dress

A young lady in Canada has contacted me about the dress. I will repost if it doesn't work out to bring the dress back up to the top of the threads. Happy weddings, ladies!

I'm baaaaack

Hello again. I'm back to re-offer the dress. I haven't heard from the contact bride in a week and really want this dress spoken for. It deserves to be in a wedding, it's so beautiful.

Here are some measurements: the waist is 17 1/2 inches from side to side, that would make it 35 inches around. From the waist to the floor measures 41 inches. The girl in the picture was about 5'7" and she had 3 inch heels on that made the dress just brush the floor.

If you're interested, please contact me.

Beautiful dress, beautiful bride, beautiful story, beautiful heart of the giver! Thank you for sharing this with us.

 o
RE: Wedding Dress

Dian, it was very sweet of you to send her the dress.

Monkey, you looked beautiful! The dress looks like it was made for you. Loved your tiara & veil, not sure if you added that on your own or if it came with the dress. My favorite photo is you with the girls, what a sweet picture! Congrats!

 o
RE: Wedding Dress

Thank you all for your support throughout this and this was a very easy wedding to put together...you guys know the story behind the gown, the tiara was bought but his Aunt did the veil. The two girls in the white gowns they are my baby girls they walked me down the isle and when we got to the front the minister (who was his mom) asked them who gives this bride the girls replied with "we do" it was so cute. His mom painted the backdrop with the beach on it and his mom and Aunt did all the decorations. Anyway thank you Dian for your help.

 o
RE: Wedding Dress

Beautiful! And by that, I mean the bride, the dress, the little girls. . . and Dian57. I wish the happy couple, and all three children, much happiness.

Dian57, that was such a wonderful thing to do. I hope you are richly blessed, after such an unselfish act! I also loved your "pay it forward" comment. It's the best thing any of us could do.

Sylviatexas,

That is a great idea. We seem to be getting quite a bit of spam lately, particularly on the older threads.
