I ask this question because I'm angry that I did not know that any of this
occurred...except for the fact that I had the opportunity to read about this on a
web site and have now subscribed to it [free] and have been receiving it for over a
year.

I cannot understand why you would be upset about a recall.
It's if food is contaminated and not recalled that I worry.

I have never heard of any of these products to be honest. I do know that there are recalls on products all the time. As a consumer you have to be aware. E.Coli bacteria often shows up in packing houses that don't follow strict guidelines. Most recently corn products that had the genetically engineered corn in them and hadn't been approved for human consumption was a problem. Luckily I don't buy most pre-packaged processed foods, and I buy organic corn products so that was never an issue.

Just curious, if you are vegan why are you so upset about meat recalls?

Perhaps things are better now, but some years ago, a governmental study in India revealed tha almost 80% of the patients in hospitals were there because of water or food contamination. Although some of this contamination was from processing and chemicals, much of this food was grown organically. Thank goodness for all of the water purification, antiseptics and recalls in the USA. I admire small, clean organic growers, but, if our huge agri-businesses were allowed to sell organic unprocesses food without inspection we would be in bad shape.

Just because someone is vegan doesn't mean that other members in their family are. And I think she is upset about the recall because it isn't advertized more.... If there is a contamination and she didn't find out until she went on a web site then she or other people she knows could be feeding their family or eating contaminated meat and not know it. I don't like to eat meat alot that is why I come here to find some great recipes to make for myself. my husband is a meat and potatoes guy so I have to buy it for him so this could be why she is "upset" just my 2 cents.

...& it wasn't JUST meat - didn't anyone note the apple juice, friut salad, cheese & muffins on that list?????

BTW, the Starlink reference was to corn products (tortillas) I believe.
