vancleaveterry I was wondering this too - if I let the pile rot long enough (a few winters) - would most of the material just break down naturally - and then be crushed further by running over it with a good size loader? Any large logs and stumps could be seperated - but the smaller stuff could just be spread out into the rest of the lot like mulch? I had an excavator estimate that I have around 100 tons of stuff. It costs 60 dollars per ton for dump charges - plus labor and truck fees. So hauling it off seems like a big expense that I can avoid. Renting the chipper is not expensive - but do I even need a chipper? Do you think spreading and crushing with a dozer would work? I do have plenty of room on my lot to spread the material. Alright, since we're sharing. I have issues with sneezing and laughing. Usually the laughing is only when I already have to go (like I've been holding it for a while) or if I've had a couple of drinks, for some reason. Last year we were on vacation and DH and I went to the hotel bar by the beach. Had a couple of drinks and people-watched. When we got ready to walk back to the room I kinda had to pee, but figured I'd wait til we got to the room. During our leisurely and romantic walk along the beach to the room, my very funny DH got me laughing so hard that I TOTALLY wet my pants. Um, I mean my dress. Had to walk into the hotel room sideways/backwards so my teenage son didn't notice.

I visited in 2010 for the first time. My favorite memory is walking across the Brooklyn Bridge into the city. It's the first thing I thought of when I learned we were going! At the center, there was a man doing ink drawings ..I bought two..St Patrick's Cathedral and of course the Brooklyn Bridge. Both are framed and hang in the living room. We took a cab to the Brooklyn side and walked into the city, which made for some great photos. We also really enjoyed the Pedicabs/rickshaws. They are everywhere and made for a new and fun experience for us. The cab rides were waaay to scary for me, lol. We also loved Central Park and enjoyed a carriage ride through it. If you stay in Times Square, beware the character crew that appear to be willing to take pics with you but we had an unpleasant experience ( and scary for my little grand daughter). Some actually got into fights with one another over who got more tips. We stayed at The Millenium/Broadway in Times Square. We also got invited into GMA studio for the live show which was an unexpected treat after it started raining, lol. Do your research if time permits and find things interesting to you...most of all have fun! Just a word of advice...if you take the cabs, close your eyes till the ride is over..oye

Automobiles cost approximately $1 per pound. Home made birthday cakes with ice-cream and fruit. Corn bread and beans. Cobblers of all kinds. Eating an apple or peach a moment after picking it fron the tree. Stopping at a Dairy Queen on a hot afternoon. When "drugs" were something you bought at the drug store. Watching apple cider being made at the local orchard. City ice plants. Coca Cola in glass bottles with the name of the town cast into the bottom of the bottle were the bottle was first used. Making a game of seeing how many different town names you could find. Pulling bottles at random from a case and making a bet on who got the bottle with the most distant town. When "hayseed" referred to timothy, red-top, or sudan grass seed and not a hick. When people knew what a "single tree" and "double tree" was. When kids mowed lawns for 50 cents - with a push mower. Common wall coverings in homes was wall paper. Pitcher pump at the kitchen sink that was connected to a cistern. Monday clothes wash day. A clothes dryer was a line out back. Gingham and polka-dot dresses. Pleated, full skirts. Bobby socks and sneakers. Highschool wool letter sweaters. Autograph books. Fountain pen. Oil bath air cleaners on cars. Road draft tubes (on car engines). Pressure switch for brake lights. 6 volt automotive systems. Generators (not alternators). Home light plants. (Fairbanks - Morse was a common brand.) Windmills to pump water. Zenith Wind Charger (for the radio). Vacuum tube radios. Philco parlor radio as large as a juke box. Juke boxes. Battery powered radios. 78 rpm records. Windup Victrola. Needles for record players. Greyhound buses running through every town on a US highway. No interstate highways. Route 66 was the biggie. Steam locomotives (and steam whistles). Threshing machines and crews. Hay binder. Model-A Fords. Nash, 6 cylinder with dual ignition (2 spark plugs per cylinder). Fordson Tractors - start on gasoline, then switch to kerosene. Kerosene lamps. Aladain lamps with mantles (pressurized naptha AKA coleman fuel). Naptha fueled clothes irons. Blow torches. Fire starter (corn cobs soaked in kerosene). Outdated Sears & Roebuck catalogs (toilet paper). Party line phones with battery boxs and hand cranked ringer. Glass insulators for telephone lines. Summer drinks were kool-aid and real lemonaide.
