Ocrakroke Island, NC

We are planning a trip this Thanksgiving to Ocrakroke Island. We have vacationed for years in the neighboring Outer Banks areas (Nags Head, Duck, Corolla, etc.) but have never been to Ocrakroke. We heard it was voted one of the top 10 beaches in the US this year, so we thought we'd check it out. Any suggestions on hotels, restaraunts, things to do, etc.? Thanks for the help!

There is not a lot on the whole island. You will travel about 7 miles to the town of Ocrakoke and when you get there, you can see everything n about an afternoon. I hae eaten many times at Captain Bens. It is very good.

Make sure you go to Howard's pub....it's good "basic" food, kids of all ages are welcome.....my teens love it too.....
Also eat at the Back Porch restaurant. We have gone there every year until last year...and we saw that some resaurants are not there from year to year.....They have a good coffee shop there too.......
