Visiting LA and San Diego

Hi,

I am planning to visit LA and San Diego during first week of September. I am interested in plants, scenic points, nature.Is there any suggestion regarding the weather(I can't take hot temps), places to visit? Interesting places to take teenage kids? Any extra preparations need for those of us travelling from East coast( by air)?Would appreciate and suggestions.

The San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. Plan on it taking a day, but worth the time and money,

I was down to visit some friends down there a few weeks back, but did not get to check out any nurseries...but the plants were absolutely everywhere we went...species of cactus and succulents that we definitely do not have here in northern cali...I'm sure their are incredible nurseries everywhere...have a blast.....

Great pics, Sharon! I'd love to know more about the wine vat. Do the grapes ferment in the vat? Doesn't it get hot in the island sun? How often do they make a "batch" of wine? Do you know if any residents make their wine this way? Thanks! Teresa

Solana Succulents in Solana Beach is off the 5 fwy near the S.D. fairgrounds (about 1/2 mile N.) The owner Jeff has written a couple of popular succulent books recently. Rainbow Gardens Nursery is more inland in Vista. The kind of plants you are looking for also. This is also the Original (Rainbow Gardens) book store. If you want books, this is a Must See!
