Isle Royale trip

We made a recent trip to Copper Harbor, Michigan, and took the ferry to Isle Royale National Park, where we stayed two nights. We did quite a bit of walking on Isle Royale, and we saw several moose, a red fox family with three kits, a nesting loon, several mergansers, and a bald eagle. We stayed two nights in a cottage that had a standard bath with running hot water. The temperature of Lake Superior was 38 degrees F when we were there, and I don't think the daytime temps got above 72 degrees F during our stay. It was rather cool most of the time, and most of the visitors were in long pants, not shorts.

If you go, it is best to purchase all the supplies you will need on the mainland. There is a 30% surcharge on retail sales on the island. Don't forget to bring bug spray, and consider bringing a shirt or headgear with bug netting features. The number of mosquitos is said to go down in mid-August, but they are thick in the spring.
