Blackie, so it is...Thanks. I have it listed wrong on my chart. Suzy, Good memory. They promised scaffolding (and is one reason why I picked them), but they did not come through. They did temporary ladder to ladder scaffolding from time to time, but there was still constant ladders in and out of all the beds. The tri-clematis wall was the tightest space and got the most damage, but I'm hoping the plants will be back to normal next year. They also stepped on an emerging martagon lily that suffered a lot. And some emerging hosta tips got bent resulting in torn foliage. And this was with them being extra careful where they stepped due to the obsessive gardener/homeowner in their midsts! If we could have done it in March as planned, it would have been fine. The timing was super close. Mounting the painted trellises back up on the wall was the very last step. Niobe was growing in leaps and bounds those last few days. The bottom of the trellis was covered in Niobe as soon as it was mounted. The bad part about the painting job is that they might have to come back in the fall to redo some spots that the primer did not adhere to well and got some blistering. I think I would rather take the risk of the paint peeling than have to deal with painters again :-)

It all depends on the effect you want to have. Most of us would choose just one plant of each variety, since it multiplies and forms a clump that makes quite an impact (in about 3 years). However, if you are making a perennial garden in which color coordination is important, you might choose to use clusters of daylilies of the same cultivar as part of your garden. In a perennial garden at the hospital, I do use some big yellows of the same cultivar and some multiples of repeat bloomers; but generally, I stick to one of each.

Happy New Year + 1 day everyone. I had to work yesterday. Usually New Years day is slow ... it's the eve that tends to get busy, but we were busy busy busy. We had some sick ones in my house this week. DD was sick Mon, tue , got better just in time to celibrate new years eve. Then hubby got it. Both kids were out for the new years eve and I was hoping for a nice romantic hot tub with him ... not to be. I spent New years eve taking care of him. :o) We got a new camera for Christmas, the old one is literally falling apart. Now I have to figure the new one out. Karen, so exciting you have a plant trying to bloom ... seems like a little miracle! Shirley, I love the leaves of the arum italicum. I tried growing it one year since they say it can withstand zone 5, but I think it is too cold here for it. Sadly it lasted 2 years and then withered away. We don't get much snow here, so lots of freezing and thawing going on. Paul, Fantastic that your Dolphins are in the playoffs. I'm hoping for a turn around like that for our Lions. My hubby plays the fantasy football too. He says he ended up 7-6 ... won $2.00. LOL Oh, and the people that own the dog we are watching for 2 years are back for a month, so my baby is going away for a while. sad sharon

I scored (Black Mingo x Eyes of Blue) and (Victorian Lace x Eyes of Blue), as well as a Blueberries & Cream crosses collection, so here's hoping i get 100 fat little seedlings this year.
