Any budget family ideas?

Husband and I are looking for something cheap but nice

(lol who isnt) we like the beach , but also like history .. ghost tours, museums.....ect. We live in Pa and want to drive there .. something in md, nj, de would be ok ....we have 2 kids 13 and 15 we are looking to go around mid to end of july

Any tips and Ideas would be great .... thanks

hi, one idea you might consider is purchasing a vacation package which gives you all kind of different vacations to choose from , and they have no expiration date so you can use them whenever you want to. also you only pay tax and tip on the vacation once you purchase the package. i put the website where you can go to get more information on everything included and the details. we use it and absolutely love it! we really do travel everywhere for pennies on the dollar! also there are many other savings included besides just the vacation packages. hope this helps! :)

If you're thinking about the Jersey shore, why not move a few miles inland? If you stay on the mainland, you'll find prices much cheaper and you can easily travel to the shore resorts for an evening, or you can enjoy the local nature. Camping would be good option, too You've also got Batsto (historical mansion) in the Pinelands. Lots of opportunity for biking and hiking. And if you choose to stay in the Jersey pines, you can heat to Sweetwater for a nice dinner one night.

...or? Look at the NXR at $1999.99 -- you'll get better burners and more space on the top to use them. I'd consider the center grate "attachment" for the well-under-$100 additional.

Do take it to the home decorating forum. We can't tell much from just these photos but it does look livable except for the purple paint and wallpaper. :) Those can go, and fast. It looks like inexpensive updating will take you a long way while you plan the real remodel. The honey oak isn't bad here! If the budget is really tight, don't do anything major until it grows a bit. This is far from a classic mcm home! the light is the only thing that looks like it's from the 50's-60's. Those cabs are builder grade oak from the 80's check ikea. you could prob do some lowers. as for the other part, save up so you can do a new countertop w/an overhang for that peninsula. also, trim out the front of the peninsula w/some panel trim work, and paint. the front of this looks like plywood! try something like this, and do the side as well, and paint and paint the cabs while youre at it. get yourself some inexpensive hardware for the cabinets. don't know what you can spare for a budget, but if you paint them yourself, can do some basic carpentry and look into a pre-fab countertop, you wouldn't need more than 2-3K. Ikea is another option if you just want to remove everything and start over. RTA cabinets are another option. for about 3K, and some install work, you could have all new cabs. countertops, another 2K. and if you want a tall pantry, remove that window and install one next to the fridge.

Trimming out the windows would help a lot (eg add casing around the window), as would bigger porch posts painted to match the trim. Adding some landscaping (small shrubs and interesting tall grasses) between the windows to break up the facade would also be good. Repaint in an more interesting color when it needs it (or now if it's vinyl) Beyond that you start to run into serious money/work.
