Lucky him! First time I went to Croatia while in University (so long ago, 1990) we got around by train. Older women were waiting near the trains with pictures of their homes and you chose the nicest place and friendliest lady and stayed there. Dirt cheap. 1990s version of couch surfing I guess, or Airbnb. Here is my thread from January, but I was imagining a car trip for this one. Cesky Krumlov is a great recommendation and worth doing. You can easily fill two or three days in both Vienna and Prague, it is a tough choice. Maybe only do two nights in each if your interest in the drive through the Alps and along the Adriatic is stronger than your city interest. Start in Prague if possible, drive south to CK then through Austria to Vienna. I'm not certain of driving times, but head south to Bled. Bled is beautiful, but very small. If you can stop here for lunch for a couple of hours en route that is enough. You just have to see it, which doesn't take days. One night there if necessary. Drive on to Slovenia's capital Lublijana (spelling off a but, sorry). Lubijana is the capital of Slovenia and is a magical place, full of dragon bridges and beauty. Spend a night here. Then down to Split, you could easily do two days here as you visit the islands of Hvar, etc., from Split. Split is lovely too. On to Dubrovonik, or Mostar (Bosnia) then Dubrovonik, depending on routing and timing. One night and a full day is good for Mostar, at least two for Dubrovnik. Mostar is truly special and so dear to my heart (I worked there after the war, arriving just days after the Dayton Accords). It is a little off the regular tourist track, but it is remarkable and I'm sure you will love it.

Hello everyone, I'm in need of some suggestions. About 2 weeks ago, a neighbor of mine had provided me with a coconut that had washed up on our nearby beach (South Padre Island, where you'll find an occasional coconut wash up from Mexico down south). And I've already followed others advice of soaking the coconut in water for 2 days and then potting it and keeping it watered, etc. But just recently we had a pretty significant cold front (high temperatures in the mid 60s, lol yes in south Texas that's kind of cold since we're in the 90s most of the year) and I've heard that temperatures below 70 degrees aren't ideal for coconut germination. In the Brownsville-Harlingen area, you'll find an isolated coconut palm, so they ARE capable of growing here, but they'll first need to put up a fight for a month or two when temperatures might be in the 40s/50s for a couple of days straight. Well anyways, I'd like to know if anyone has had success with any techniques that have allowed for a coconut to germinate during the winter? - I currently have the coconut in a pot outside, watering it with warm water in the morning and late afternoon

If they rolled the sod down, you're good to go. If they did not roll the sod down, please go out and walk on every square inch of grass to ensure the bottom of the sod is touching the top of the soil. Roots will not grow through the air to reach the moist soil below. But now that I think about this, do NOT walk on the grass if the underlying soil is wet. For the first 2 weeks after sodding, water it very lightly (5 minutes?), just enough to moisten the soil below the sod, 2 times per day (for your area and temperatures). The soil underneath should always be firm and not mushy. If it becomes mushy, then back off on the time you're watering. After 2 weeks, try lifting some of the sod. It should be knit to the ground by then. Once the sod and soil are connected, you can back off on watering frequency and go up on the duration. St Aug is pretty durable, but it will let you know when it needs to be watered. Look for the blades to fold together. The color will change, too. If you see any wilting anywhere, water it immediately. It might pop back to life in the evening, but water it anyway. It should go a couple days between watering. Keep watering it longer each time and watch to see how long it goes before wilting. When it can go a full week with no watering, then it is time to time your sprinklers. Place some cat food or tuna cans around the yard and turn on the sprinklers. Time how long it takes to fill them all. That will be your new sprinkler timing from now on. One inch is considered to be deep watering. Many people, especially in CA and FL, will divide that up to water 1/7-inch once every day. That is dead wrong. Watering like that develops very shallow roots which cannot stand to miss a day of watering. Someday you will be on vacation and your sprinkler system will shut down or break an emitter, and your lawn will die. However, if the grass has deep roots from infrequent, deep watering, it can go for weeks without needing water. For example I have watered my lawn once this year. Mother Nature happens to be helping out. We got 2 inches of rain last week, so I don't anticipate needing to water again until some time in June. And our temps are in the high 80s and 90s. When the grass gets up to about 5 inches, you can mow with the mower on the highest setting. Don't mow wet grass or if the soil is soggy. You can use the alfalfa fertilizer any time you want.

Specific Ibex, They showed us how the tea is picked (still by hand in this part of the world), dried, rolled crushed and roasted in a cool 100yo factory overlooking the hills, that I could not help think, with its old wood floors and huge windows, would make great condos. Our guide also went into great detail about the soil conditions and chemical processes, how tea is graded and sold, etc. We did have a tasting of their single source teas, as well as various blends. I am a big tea drinker but honestly I can enjoy everything from Red Rose to Harney & Sons to Mariage Freres, not to mention all the not-tea teas.
