My best friend and I are thinking about a little weekend get away to South Padre Island in Texas, but I want to bring my five year old and one year old along- she has heard there is nothing in South Padre for kids to do. Can anyone confirm?

There is miles of beach, gentle surf, shells, stones to throw, nice wet sand to build sand castles, shells to dig with.....what more could any kid want? If you are looking for amusement parks stay home. Linda C

Haven't been to Padre Island in years, but it was always a pleasant, unspoiled area to visit. Also consider the beaches a little to the north on Mustang Island.
Here is a link that might be useful: Port Aransas

Thanks so much! I just took the kids to San Diego and found that at their ages (5 and 1) lots of time at the beach and skipping the amusement parks is best!
