Not to shed a negative light on our state, but I'm curious if you've heard about all the uproar down here this week? Hope you've been informed that, even though you may not be a college football fan right now, after you're here a couple of years you MUST pledge your allegiance to either Auburn University (war eagle! or the University of Alabama (roll tide!). It's mandatory (no, not really). But seriously, you'll be amazed how college football dominates in this state. The vast majority of folks down here can be passionate fans of their favorite school, enjoy kidding around & joking with their rivals, but yet keep it all in perspective. Sara, I'm in Medford, Burlington Co. and the really bad microburst was in Gloucester Co. The damage at my house was strictly cosmetic. A bad day all around. My neighbor comes over and starts lecturing me about weeds and poison ivy growing in a row of bayberry that's entirely in my yard. She's my favorite neighbor, but she's german. There was no explaining that we live in the country, and that there are areas which are given over to nature; that it is a kind of religious thing with me. I was rude, just turning and walking away, mid lecture. The second problem of the day was the worst of the two; I value my friendship with my neighbor, and didn't like getting my back up. I should of been drinking wine in Alabama and watching hummingbirds.

I have been in Fl for 15 years and would welcome any and all of you to stay awhile if you are in the area of Largo,Fla.I have children in Dallas,Chicago, Chattanooga and Virgina Beach. I see that my SO has posted a comment concerning Partying and Dancing (Sharon_FL). She is good at partying and dancing. Some of you may know that. LOL

When we start to travel like this.. I intend to take lots and lots and lots of photos.. and share with my internet friends... Thank you Jemdandy for sharing the info.... Bollinger Mill is only about 60 miles from his place in Fisk.. easy peasy day trip.. ...and Alley Millis just 85 miles.. another easy peasy day trip... Larry loves war history and museums, etc... and so battlefields are his cup of tea.. We have some friends that do civil war re-enactments and have been invited to attend some of those with them.. .. and Larry said "Most definitely !!".. We live quite close to Shiloh, and so one day we plan to go back there again to tour that battlefield.. Last time there, it started to rain.. so didn't get to see much.. but we did get to eat at a great eatery that did smoked catfish... deelish.. and worth the trip.. We would not have found it if it were not for the rain.. what a blessing eh?? Carolyn
