I have been to: Raymour and flannigan- Decent stuff--mid priced. bought the kids furniture and some of the office furniture there. Happy with the quality and the service. Sales people attack you at the door- but still worth checking out. Raymour and flannigan clearance- I went twice did not see anything i was looking for - but if you are looking to be thrifty check it out Ethan Allan- love their things but the style is not really what i'm looking for at this time. High End. Ashley- too low end for my taste Rider Furniture- Great things but a smaller store- if you know what you are looking for the will usually beat the price. Traditional style items. Flemington Department Store- Be aware- you will think you walked into some hokey gross thrift shop--- but keep going in-- Great selection of name brand furniture- huge store... good prices- worth the drive.. Also they sell things like great cleaning products for stainless steel and wood floors. Gasior's on Route 206 in Belle Mead- High End- very pricey and very stuffy. Too fancy for my lifestyle and kids... Thomasville- Very nice furniture- mid/high end. Bought a tv console and end tables. Sales men a little pushy but liked the quality. Nice store. Lauter's Furniture- Far drive for me... but a great store- I didn't find what i was looking for, but reasonable prices and HUGE store. Macys Furniture- too low end for me Decorators Consignment- Hopewell NJ- Great consignment store- I have not found anything yet, more of a hit or miss, but worth checking out. You might have to go a few times to find what you are looking for. Greenbaum's in Paterson - Too high end for me

Your home is gorgeous! I spent a year renovating a 1939 petite colonial (1700 sf). In my case, I had to add a kitchen as the old one was tiny had badly renovated in the 1990s. A few workflow tips in your newer post with the kitchen. I'd put the prep sink at the range end of your island, instead of at the dining room entrance end. Think about it -- you chop, then have to carry the food to the range. Please rethink that desk in your kitchen. I've had "work/message centers" as built-ins in previous homes, but here in my new old house, I'm using a piece of furniture -- a drop-front secretary where I can close up the mess when guests arrive, but sit there and work (printer in the bottom). You can put the secretary in any room. Where your desk is located, it's not a drop station for bringing in the mail, schoolbooks, etc. For aesthetics, please try to make the kitchen fit the spirit of the house. White cabinets would likely fit it better than stained wood. Consider having at least a few glass-front upper cabinets. If you turned that desk space into storage, you wouldn't need to line the walls with upper cabinets. It's amazing what you can fit into a "hutch" look that would fit the aesthetics of your home. I had hutches flanking my farmsink in my previous home. One for pantry items, the other for dishes. My current 1939 home new renovation -- hutches -- the one of the left of my paneled fridge is for dishes and the one one the right side is filled with food items stored in canisters and containers. My kitchen is only 12x12 as the dimensions are in keeping with the original room sizes. The dining room is 12x12 and the living room is 12 x 21.

Beyond that it's anyone's guess. It's not as simple as tree A will live to age X and tree B will live to age Y. Trees also don't just stop growing at some designated height or spread. You can find averages for these aspects, but while I'm pretty sure a parrot will outlive a dog, I don't know how old each will be with precision. I'm not sure what your goal is ... you said you plan to recommend these trees to lots of people. Are you trying to landscape a subdivision or something? Are you wanting to plant a single type of tree in every site? What is this list for? I'm not familiar with tons of varieties of evergreens, but whether something can come down without climbers or bucket trucks isn't solely dependent on size. The neighbor's last ailing tree (40'ish cherry) could have been dropped across our yard ... if we didn't mind it destroying our perennial garden and cobblestone paths; a bucket truck was brought in. Their current dead tree (50'ish hickory) is capable of hitting houses or wiping out the street, or it could kill several other trees on its way down if felled ... it will also need a bucket truck. The 35' branch that had to be removed off one of our 75'-100' white pines was removed by suspending it off of the pine itself and two nearby oaks and lowered (thankfully not just dropping on all the understory trees it was looming over). There were aerialists and a little vehicle (pulled lines and hauled log chunks) but not bucket truck on that removal. Our Eastern Red Cedar is about 35' tall and it was probably 20'ish in the early 80s, no idea how old it is, but we do know it's been hit by lightning twice (and had its top reshaped). Every mature tree on our property, except the serviceberry, requires an aerialist or bucket truck to prune. For a while the Bradford pear (no commentary on its existence, please) could be pruned with a pole, but it needs a bucket truck too now that it's probably 25'-30' tall. It was the last holdout. So I wouldn't count on any tree never requiring a bucket truck or climber. The birds love our yew shrub (we hate our yew ... though if it didn't have to be pruned multiple times a year/was in a different spot it might be more acceptable). They also love forsythias and quince, though. There's definitely nests in the cedar, and I'm pretty sure several of the oaks, maples, and cherries have nests in them. It depends on the bird what tree they'll build in. One word about hedge style planting, my grandfather planted a hedge hemlocks, and they were great and beautiful until one in the middle had an issue. It's nearly impossible to replace a tree that's 25' tall and planted tightly, and the two on the sides of the hole lacked green towards the hole because they had previously been growing into the missing tree. I don't recall whether they took down the whole hedge or moved and the next owners did it; the hedge no longer exists. Price of tree ... what's your definition of small?

I live about 8 miles south of Ocean Grove. It is an adorable little town founded by the Methodists in the late 1800's. As such, it retains its "church" character. There are only 2 main roads in and out of OG and they used to close the gates leading into town on Sunday. No driving allowed. The local lore is that there was a power outage one year and the repair people weren't allowed in on a Sunday to fix the wires. Soon after the rules changed. The streets are narrow and often one-way. Driving is hard and it's easy to get lost (as lost as you can get in town that is less than 1/2 square mile). But do walk around as there are many interesting houses in town. You may notice lots of wooden platforms. They're the bases for tents that serve as summer homes for generations of family visitors. The town fell into disrepair but became hot about 20 years ago and there has been a lot of renovating and gentrifying. There are some restaurants in town but to be honest I have't been in a while. For interesting dining, walk across one of the bridges, or drive, into Asbury Park which has many great places to eat , bars, breweries, etc (At least prior to CV-19 - who knows what May will bring). AP did do a great job of closing streets and creating outdoor dining and I am guessing that will likely continue come spring. Every place does take. What kind of food do you? Every town along the "Shore" has it's own personalty, as Ded tired noted. You can drive along the ocean from Sandy Hook to Ocean Grove (or if you're going to Cape May first you can go from OG to Sandy Hook) and get a feel for some of them. If you want to go further south you have to do a little zigging and zagging. In NJ you have to pay to get on the beach but fees don't usually start until Memorial Day so you may be able beach hop. There are many cute towns in the area. Spring Lake, which mtnrdredux_gw mentioned, is one of the more upscale towns with big ocean-front houses, a cute downtown, and a nice beach. Walking the boards is very popular. The Spring Lake board walk itself is about 2 miles long. I walk it all year long as it is the halfway point between my house and my walking buddy's. You can also walk the boardwalk from Bradley Beach which is one town south of OG to Sea Girt. If you're a fan of MTV's Jersey Shore, Seaside is not that far. but not at all walkable.
