A couple friends and I need a Moms weekend.Someone suggested Biloxi(we live in Atlanta)

Any suggestions on hotels,restaurants etc.Any suggestions for anywhere else?

Whats the weather like in April or is it too busy because of spring break?

Spring break here in MS is in March so you'll miss all the spring breakers. (Thank goodness!) Check out the Beau Rivage. It's definitely the nicest hotel/casino in Biloxi. The weather in April is usually great. (Probably range from 70 - 85) I don't live in Biloxi but if I can answer any other questions I'll try. The main attraction is definitely the casinos.

Yes when I searched I definitely like Beau Rivage.Splitting it 3 or 4 ways won't cost as much either!

I think we will go for it in April.

who loves their porcelain 'wood' floor tile?

I love having the weathered wood look tile floor in the kitchen. It is practical for me. The rest of the house (minus the bathrooms and basement) is wide plank pine, and impractical to run into a kitchen. I have this tile running perpendicular to the real wood (not weathered) in the house., which makes it look purposeful. It is a really good quality tile which did not cost all that much. Looking back a couple years ago, I understand (when I was researching for someone who wanted to us this himself in his own home) that the tile I selected was discontinued. (I do have additional slabs in case anything needs replacement - always order a bit more than you need so the tilers can cut as indicated...) It also helps me demark space in my home, as I am not really an "open space" aficionado - but am content with "semi-open". I bought my tile from a high quality supplier (South Cypress), and I did not pay an arm and a leg for the tile I chose. Edit: This is a log home, and the wide plank pine fits into the home ambiance wonderfully. I just didn't want a soft wood floor in the kitchen... but I wanted something hardy but wood-like. Being "weathered" meant I wasn't trying to "fool" anyone, but going with the nature of my home. Absolutely love it, and love the supplier I bought from. It also has some brownish sections, which keeps me out of that monochrome area of décor I personally dislike.

Hi there, I know it's a year later, but I was wondering how your ligustrum are doing. (They look like japonicum to me too.) My first thought is winterburn, because 1) the time of year, 2) the damage appears to start at the tips, which is typical of winter damage, and 3) the north facing wall which gets cold, dry wind. So let us know if they recovered. I'm in zone 7a (Washington, DC area), 2 zones warmer than you, and I get winter damage on my ligustrum japonicum. They're tough trees though so hopefully yours made it. That winter was a really cold one and particularly had a lot of wind - at least in my area. Cercospora leaf spot hits later in the year, in the heat of the summer; and I think it starts with the older, lower leaves, rather than all over. I could be wrong about that though. But I'm pretty sure that February 21st was too early for it to hit. I see the sooty mold too, although there is not that much there, so you might have some scale too. But I don't know, that doesn't look like scale damage to me. What do you others think?

We attended a company sponsored holiday event at Beau Rivage about 10 years ago. They provided 2 nights lodging. The first night was a Christmas party. The next day when everyone else hit the casino floor, we left and visited a few places in Biloxi and Ocean Springs ... Walter Anderson Museum , George Ohr Museum (now the Ohr/O'Keefe Museum) and Beauvoir. Neither one of us gambles, so it was a much more enjoyable way to spend a December day. We also opted for Mary Mahoney's rather than the casino buffet. Have a good time!

Natalie, April should be gorgeous in Biloxi! Dh & I stayed at the Beau Rivage in December 2001 on a business-related trip. Neither one of us gambles, so we were both grateful to be able to leave that environment during the day. We had a great time discovering Biloxi and Ocean Springs. Here are some of the places we visited and enjoyed.

Mary Mahoney's is wonderful! We never go to the coast without eating there. Another great place is Vrazel's. It's west of Biloxi on the highway along the coast about 15 -20 miles. It's delicious! (You definitely want to make reservations at either one of those places. It's hard to just walk in and get a table. Especially in the spring and summer)
