Looking for either a cottage, or an efficiency in the Fort Lauderdale area. Would prefer to be on the ocean side with a view of it, either 30 miles north or south of FL. We like to stay where there is a smaller number of units, more intimate. Like that mom and pop feel. Doesn't have to be fancy, just clean. Appreciate your suggestions. Thanks

You might check a bit north of Ft Lauderdale Beach, near Pompano Beach. I believe there are some places like you mentioned looking for.

I have only stayed in the hotels right accross from Ft Lauderdale Beach, but they are not the cozy family type that you are looking for.

The first time we went to the Ft. Lauderdale area we stayed just north of Ft. Lauderdale in a little "village" called Lauderdale by the Sea. If you google it you will find some good information. They had a lot of little mom and pop type places, and we really liked it a lot.
