Seriously, Christmas dinner here is the day after when my husband gets home. We eat at dinner time (5 or 6 pm). If you do show up (it is an invitation, after all), be prepared for a rude awakening as the dining room table is full of brug cuttings. You will have to sit in the living room & balance your plate on your lap. Doing this puts it at the perfect nose-height for a 150 lb Newfie (who drools & will steal shamelessly). We consider cat hair extra insulation for the winter & it is applied liberally to every available surface. You will be taking a free sample with you when you leave. Those of you who are "pee shy" had better "go" before you leave home & be prepared to hold it. We have 10 cats (I do fostering & will be encouraged to take one with you when you leave) & no one gets privacy (picture all those cats watching your every move). Also please be aware that homemade means there's hair in it (& possibly worse). In other words, you were warned. LOL Linda

Hi Blueiris, Welcome to the Holiday forum. Did you see our post on here about the trash bag wreaths? They are really pretty for Christmas if made using the white bags. Your teenager would probably love doing the cutting while Gma and the 4th grader put them on the wire hanger and then all three could add decorations. Let me know if you'd like the link to the tutorial for making them. Then there are lots of free craft sites on the web. Here's one you might want to start with. It has lots of links to more. I went to the wordles site when the OP posted in Sept. and had fun playing with it. If I recall correctly, I did a save as just as with any document.And I printed it. I hadnt done a "good" one, I was experimenting. I recommend you try it out first. Have fun. I am planning on making gifts for my DD and DH for Christmas.

You also could put pillar candles on a silver or glass plate and arrange the fruit around the base of the candle, like a candle ring. You could make napkin rings for holiday dinners by gluing the fruit to them. I have some similar grape napkin rings and when I'm not using them on napkins, I use them arranged around candles on the table - mostly hiding the rings.
