Kat, Those are adorable! Stars aren't only for Christmas time. You can just change the color of the bows to make them seasonal. Pastel colors for Spring, Red White and Blue for summer and then orange or brown for Fall. That makes a nice and easy, yet interesting year round display. It makes me wish we had saved ours after it rotted.

Just spent the entire morning painting trim, so it's nice to take a break and read your happy comments. natal, I remember you questioning the mohair back in my earlier post. At the time, I wasn't willing to even consider other fabric options, but I think you planted the seed of doubt in me. maddielee, we're really happy with this upholsterer. They were recommended by a friend who owns an antique store, and she gets her stuff for the store done there. They also did the settee that is in the room. franksmom, I think you're probably right that they look similar to when they were new. The stripe fabric has a vintage tea-stained look to it, so I think that helps them look somewhat original. I love the mohair, but it didn't work with the wall color in this room. The blue walls made it look navy rather than charcoal. In the tv room, the mohair looks much more true to color. yayagal, chohio, lazy river, loribee, thank you! marg411, the little chippy stool is probably staying chippy. It was a curb-side rescue found along with the turquoise taller stool that my fern is on. I like things that are a little beat up and rough around the edges. The chrome floor lamp was another curb-side rescue. madtown, yes, this is our library/office (although with laptops, we work wherever we want). The room gets tons of afternoon sun, so I've been hanging out with a book in the afternoon taking little breaks to enjoy my progress. I love this idea because I think home-crafted gifts are the best and would personally love to have something a friend or family member had worked on. The people who are your friends will understand the lack of funds that you have right now and I think they will be deeply touched that you have gone to so much effort to still give them a gift for the holidays. If you want to sell some pieces, I think this is a good way to do it without the overhead of opening a business. Advertising would be your biggest problem, and if your home is not located in an area that is convenient to shoppers, I don't think it will matter how much you advertise, getting customers to come will be a challenge. It might be better to pack everything up and rent a booth at a craft show or flee market and try selling there. Local church and school bazaars are great places for selling this sort of thing. I attended one bazaar last year and the entry/booth fee was only $10 for a large table with electricity. I sold almost everything I took and it was certainly a way to make a lot of extra Christmas money. If you do decide to sell to the public, print up some business cards on your computer and include one with every item you sell and have some available around your booth for pick up by customers. I have several hundred dollars worth of orders that have been placed for items this year, just from repeat business, and thats always a good thing. I think they are something other than tin, they are pretty heavy, I just used 4 big screws one in each corner, an tried to be sure to find a stud or 2, I have 3 different windows hung up throughout the house, all hung the same way, and they have all been ok,,,
