How do I include pics?

I've been a lurker here for years, but only an occasional poster because I don't know how to include pics of my own projects. I'm a bit of a moron at stuff like that - but a TOTAL whizz at turning trash to treasure (I think). I'd so like to share some of my own ideas sometimes but don't know how.

I like to use tinypic.com. You just have to go to their site,browse to pick out the picture you want, upload it and then click top line shown and paste it in your message. This is not a storage site, but rather a place to upload the picture you have wherever you keep them, such as My Pictures. I find it the simplest to use.

If there is any one thing I've learned over the last couple of years, it is that proper watering goes a long way towards preventing disease and death in grass. If not in-ground then hoses and sprinklers. Improper watering is my own worst habit - I'm lazy about dragging out the hoses. Before you decide you want to renovate and to what degree you need to decide if you are going to care for it and for how long. Meaning following the lawn care basics over the next few years religiously. If not, your work will be for naught. That said, your lawn is not too bad. You could cut low, rake out the dead grass, core aerate, overseed tall fescue or a tall fescue/perennial rye mix, fertilize and water. In 30 days you'll have a nice dense stand of grass.

Oh the fabulousness of what I call schoolhouse paperboard ceilings!!! They were all over my first floor in one form or another thanks to a previous home owner who thought lowering the ceilings would save on heating bills (I'm blaming the infamous Mr.G!) - I've torn out the ones in the Living Room, Dining Room and Library - still have them in the back of the house - kitchen and back entry in a larger format, and my office ceiling looks just like yours. If you have to just patch, look in a closet to see if there's a piece you can cut to patch - but tearing them out and replacing them with drywall is so satisfying! If you can't patch in a tile, your solutions are to cover it, or just fill it with drywall compound similar to patching a hole in drywall - it's not pretty, so it gives you motivation to do it right and tear it out! ;-) Next up for removal in my house is the kitchen/back entry - which also gives us access the very scary wiring between the paperboard ceilings and the original plaster ones 18inches above. That Mr.G - he was a genius at wiring! Just look at the photo of the live wire cutting the corner over the bathtub of our 1950s Bathroom From Hell for proof of that! First, congrats on building your new house! Very exciting. My MW drawer isn't in our island so no picture, but in addition to the electrical question I'm wondering: It looks in your picture like the island counter has an overhang of several inches on all 4 sides (can't tell for sure) and a corbel in the center of each side. Where were you planning on placing the MW? Under the corbel? That seems awfully low. Or were you thinking of having 2 corbels on either side of the MW space? That would make sense to me so it could be higher, but you wouldn't want much overhang above it. So my preference would be sink side, centered between 2 corbels, with only a standard counter overhang. For an under-counter MW, I really like having a drawer, so you can place and retrieve items from above. (That's personal preference though.) natevalsmom - beautiful kitchen! Love your colors, lights, valances, and especially that island counter.

hey guys i did some more research on this and i have come up with some great discoveries to share with you. 1. the official names to these are: Royal Copenhagen plaques. These two pieces I have shared with you here are 2 out of a collection of 4 plaques which together make up the so-called Four Seasons of Life. Check them out on google they're gorgeous. 2. Now regarding hanging and framing, unfortunately since our wall is clear white it doesnt make sense to hang them up on the wall so we are considering mounting them on a velvet frame, something like this... http://p2.la-img.com/255/11673/3034247_1_l.jpg Thank you everybody for your feedback you're very helpful! I can't believe this. I had the whole thing written here and cancelled the message! *sigh*

OK, again, I had just asked this question myself and was helped by so many great people I hope I can help you two in turn! It's so great to be able to contribute, and everyone loves the pics!

First, your pictures have to come from an outside source, you can't upload directly from your files. I can tell you about Photobucket, which I joined instead of Tinypics. (I am not at all tech savay). I'm going to assume you go to Photobucket's site and join there. IT seemed really easy to me to click and set up my first album. Then, on the right of the screen is a place to upload your pictures. Just click on "Brouse" and find your picture in your files. Double click and the picture will appear in your album lower on that screen.

To add a picture here then, (it's easiest if both Photobucket and the Forum are open on your desktop)... in your Photobucket album just left click on the third item down right under your picture which is the HTML code. You will see that it says "copied". Then go to your post in the forum and put your curser where you want the picture in your text, and hit "paste". You will see what looks like gibberish, but when you go to "preview message" and look at the final message, the photo has magically appeared! Then submit the message.

I did this all in the past couple of days. The only problem I had was that my photo files were too big for Photobucket to accept. (They were huge) I solved that
by inserting the pics in an email to myself, and then copying the new pics into my files. (You may have smaller pics to start with or a program that lets you resize your pics easily.)
