what a cool link. Thanks Lindy B. I love her skirt. Ive been saving old neck ties for years to do something like it. But havnt yet, didnt think I would be brave enough to ever wear it.

Susan, Murry, MissSherry - Coyotes (like most predators in NA) are in fact not aggressive toward people normally, and will instead cower and run away if you stand your ground with them. Without getting even farther off topic why, lets just leave it at I know a lot about predators and dangerous game, and having spent so much of my life in the wilds I have had way more than my fair share of close encounters and near misses with variuos species of them all over the world, including many that I wouldn't have come out on top with in an actual conflict. So I think their is little doubt that this coyote (or coydog) was sick. Mange doesn't normally make them bold, so a good guess would be rabies. And this one was way beyond bold... hair standing on end, tail up, teeth bared, growling and popping its teeth at me from 3'. Luckily I didn't get bit, just some bruised knuckles and a cut palm from my keyring when I put the fist on the bridge of its snout as hard as I could and knocked it into the blacktop. That was just instinct after being around them all my life, but those "long moments" came into play when it got back to its feet, eyed me in a defensive pose for some time while deciding if it wanted to try for round two. It didn't and finally turned tail and left. Next day I found a canine and another tooth on the road it lost in the conflict. I also called animal control to advise them there was probably a rabid coyote running the neighborhood (and since they know me from the ADC I have done for the city I am sure they believed me). BTW, being in the city means squat when it comes to coyotes and other predators. They are common on the golf course and residential streets here, and EVEN turn up in places like downtown New York City and other big cities. When prey numbers are low in their natural habitat, they just come into town for easy prey like pet cats, small dogs, or in my case for my cottontails/quail. Maybe I better add... Don't try this at home. I know as much about their life histories as I do the leps and have a lot of ADC experience with them, so do know how to handle them. It was just easier when younger and when I moved faster. LOL L.

I think it's not worth the emotional pain to get upset over the type of gift someone gives you. Maybe it's petty, but I simply give gifts of similar value and thoughtfulness to the ones I tend to receive. I know one of my DS always gives thoughtful gifts despite her limited budget, so I actually buy her pretty nice stuff that costs significantly more than she usually spends on my gifts. My parents hit a low point with DW one year when they gave her underwear. 3-to-a-pack Walmart underwear, mind you, not something nice. That was just the last straw in a steady downward spiral. Now rather than spending a few hundred on my parents I just grab whatever's on super-low clearance discount. The money saved gets spent on DW, so things even out nicely in my mind. I have another sibling who seems to give me and DW whatever's laying around his house, wrapped up in a gift basket and presented as a "family gift", LOL. I also used to give him and his DW very nice, carefully thought-out stuff, but now he and his DW also get stuff from the "final clearance" table. I was joking with DW that when his package to us arrives this year we should just donate it to the needy without bothering to open it. Anyway, my point is that the disparity in either thoughtfulness or price can lead to resentment when it comes to gifts. It defeats the purpose to try to get the other party to step up to your level, so downgrade at your end and reset your expectations.

Thanks, you're probably right about not giving them drink bottles...I was just trying to think of a way to encourage them... I have deliberately not been on site much lately b/c the foreman has been so rude. He can be very nice but when he's in a temper - as he can be unpredictably - I don't have the patience to deal with him. Dh goes out and talks to him after work, and our other subs are out there often, looking out for us. If we see *any* more signs of drinking (pop, not beer, lol!), on the job, you can bet I'll be out there every day, all the time, watching them!!! We have found finishings for our house that are fun and unique - lights from at least 5 different sources for instance. Light fixtures made from old time drop lights for our shop area, huge snowshoe wall sconces for the great room for instance (yes, they all meet electrical code). We live 4 miles from our house (we're renting while building), so sometimes I've gone out there 4 times a day. Or I've driven 100 miles in a day, chasing down permits, supplies, etc. This is what I've done as GC, probably more effectively and efficiently than any "pro" could have done. I don't think we could've GC'd if we'd both been working outside the home. It's been a full time job for me, part time for dh. Plus we've done some of the finishing work ourselves (we're finishing the fir floors next weekend; dh is putting in the shop floor right now). Yes, we've had a few questions along the way, but probably no more than if we'd hired a GC. Different questions, maybe. We have always been very involved in home projects, in everything. Some of the crews/vendors have been surprised to come out and find that the woman caulking the logs/house is one of the home owners! Hee hee! GCing your own home is wonderful for many people, and I think the "professionals" need to chill out and be supportive. I doubt that they're going to lose that much business because of us. Or maybe they could offer their services as a consultant/hybrid GC of sorts, and encourage the homeowner to be more involved.

Environmental Protetion Agency orEntertaining Peopleof America??? LOL Can't wait to check out this sight. Say, You have snow and rain out there don't cha? Just like us Iowans.......

Raven........ I saw the cutest chair.... no seat.... They wove ties to make one... just darling!!! I have also seen pillows woven from ties,,, glued together on the front.

hummm....just cleaned HDs tie rack yesterday and wondered how i could recycle these beautiful pieces of 100% silk! by the way...gals...you'll probably need to do this while he's busy elsewhere...they are so possessive of those really favorite "stained" ones!

My DH told me when he was a little boy
there was a man who took old tires and
wove seats for chairs....like the cane
chairs!!!

Never have seen one, he said
they were real comfortable, and you
couldn't wear them out!!

Well Lindy it used to Be the environmental Protection agency but for the last four years it has been the environmental pollution agency...and it's probably going to get worse. Bascially you create outfits, write a script have 2 people take turns announcing the outfits. Haute trash has been at it for years and do they have some racy outfits. and some gorgeous models to wear them. My modeling days are over was too fat to begin with and now it's just more fun being behind the scenes and creating outfits. there is also an amazing lady in New Mexico who does incredible detailed outfits using nails, etc. I will have to get my pics organized into a photo album to share with everyone. Iusually start with a thrift store dress and go from there. the last one I did binded by the light used the black plastic report bindings that get tossed outwhere I work. I usually create one outfit a year. theres no limit to the creativity.

OHIO MOM.......my god.... how in the heck would one cut a rubber tire??? A saw? an electric knife.....??? haa ha.. I actually bought an old harvest gold electric knife today to cut out my hearts out of insulation board...to paint like candy hearts....I went to a fabulous second hand store today and got it for 3 bucks.... Everything else I got was a quarter or 50 cents....LOL I LIKE dem kind of treasures!!!! Come to think of it, I bet he used a jigsaw to cut the rubber tires.....now ya got me thinkin!!!!! uh oh

Trashtricks.... may the trash be with you! I went to that website......OH MY goodness... I can not believe it!!!It was unreal! Never be a fashion show like that around here in the midwest...hmmmmmmmm Maybe I ought to do something like that.....My first thought was a lampshade on my head!!!! LOL

OH man!!!!!!!! and just after I got the saw out...!!! LOL just kidding....OK... innertubes.....huh..start a new fad? They wove these??? does your husband have one in the garage you could take a pic of??LOL Doesn't this sound like a hoot? Sure glad I didn't start sawing that tire...!!!! ha ha

No, this was over 40 years ago. But you know
how you 'weave' a mat...like a 'basket weave'?

That is what it sounds like he did!!! My DH
said they were real comfy!!! Probably better
than the hard plastic they make now!!!

You know it's funny, our generation was 'recycling'
out of 'necessity' before it was a 'fad' thing
to do.

Nothing got thrown away...it was mended or had
an alternative use!!!

Living in the city I have to shake my head at the
waste out on the curb that goes to landfills....
I wonder what the 'future' archeologist will
think about us!!!

I just asked my DH, and he said they still make innertubes. He said to check your local tire store, or even Walmart.

Now another question gals..... don't you think that after awhile of sittin my fat butt in this woven innertube it would start to stretch out??? LIke I'd be sittin on the ground in 2 years???? LOLWhen I think of innertubes I just keep thinking they are stretchy//??? But maybe not too.....stretchy.....hmmmmmm
