bought the suitcase at a ys for 50 cents. painted this using a renee mullins pattern!

Your suitcase is so cute! You did such a good job painting it. I am going to have to learn how to paint. You girls who do such wonderful painting jobs are making me so jealous.

Awww, that's so cute! I've been wanting to do one of these, but I don't know what kind of paint to use. Did you just use acrylics? What did you use to seal it? I really love it!

I just had to post here...I have several (more like tons!!!!!!) of old glass jars just like that and even an old white tub like that...WHAT are you going to do?!?!?! I have been a member since my DH and I bought our old house and grounds. I used to be really active on here and then life just got too busy. We're working on building a large (HUGE!) rock wall around our house and that will be a new flower bed for me to play in! I'm going to make tipsy pots this weekend because I ADORE the ones I've seen! But I would love to do something with the old jars, too....I'd love ideas!!!! Thanks to everyone for their creativity and ideas. I think you should make rock bowling pins, just glue gun them together, and set them up a few feet from the ball in a 10 pin pattern...

The ones I purchased on clearance did have black wilted leaves...couldn't tell if it was overwatering, poor air circulation, lack of light, or all of the above. I cleaned them up, removing the bad foliage and trimmed the broken stems. The improvement was almost immediate. They have perked up a lot, but I still will not plant in the ground until they look strong and healthy. I think Lowes felt they were near dead when they put them on clearance, but for us gardeners near dead is not DEAD, right?

I found this whole thing very interesting and appreciate you sharing the results. Myself I eat very little meat, I don't drink and subsequently don't spend a lot of money on food. The difference between when I was buying steaks, beer/wine, desserts etc at the grocery every week and now is just incredible! I still buy some of those things for my husband but changing your diet changes your whole life. Kate

Hi!Yes, I used acrylics and then used an acrylic sealer. I also used modge podge and added mica flakes, but you can't see them very well in the pic. It is very sparkly!

well it is sure worth more now... that you have painted that adorable little snowman on it!!! The suitcase is ready to hit the road now!!!!

I was wondering... did you put something like gesso on first or primer... and what was the surface of the suitcase to start with....???
