BJ4L you probably could use plastic but metal would last longer I think. Plastic in heat deteriorates unless under a patio cover or tree or shaded area, some plastics, paint doesn't stick to too well either.I like the rounded edge of the metal caps too! But worth a try since you just toss the bottle caps out anyway. I give 1 gal water bottle caps to a teacher to use when teaching kids to count. They come in several colors & easy for kids to pick up. I apologize So sorry for not posting some directions... Ok I will try to answer your questions 1.. Yes they are real bottle caps. I was lucky to get some from a lady that ordered many! but You can find them on ebay or maybe in some craft stores.. They claim you can't use a regular bottle cap they say because of the crimping.. 2. Yes I printed the pictures the pictures from my PC 3. I use my laminator that one side is laminate and the other is sticky back.. Here are some directions: 1. Line up your bottle caps on a hard surface, crown side up. Be sure to protect your tables or your floors. 2. Give the caps a couple of light taps with a rubber mallet, just to get them started---the real smashing will come later on the flip side. (word of caution, a hammer can leave you with deformed bottle caps.) but a mallet will distribute the pressure evenly, so we suggest getting a mallet. (any hardware store will carry these) 3.Ok here comes the FUN Part-- Flip the caps over and place them on your work surface crown side down. Beat it, whack it, and beat it some more, (think about that bad day lol) . Before long it will only take you a few times to get this downÂ. The outer edge of the cap with roll outward, and you'll have an amazing round metal embellishment , all of this from that bottle cap! Okay so now your asking, what in the world can I do with flattened bottle cap? Well lets get creative Fill them with things but a 1" round hole punch will do the trick for those who want their own images. Punch the image of choice, dab a little adhesive onto the cap, and position the image. Images can go inside the flattened cap, or on the back side. Caps can be colored with alcohol-based inks, which lets the metal shine through. They can be painted with acrylics and then sanded, textured, or whatever to create a grungy dated look. There is an endless list of things that you can do with them (Just get creative) Want to make holes for jump rings? Try a 1/16" paper punch. Yeah I know what you are thinking, but the metal really is soft enough to allow a simple paper punch to go through it. Or just go get one of your hubbyÂs drywall screws and ---use your mallet with the screw to make a hole. If you have any questions just ask Jackie Jackie

Kidd so glad you posted, was worried that I took over your post, as I see my photos were still in the old post, didnt check frist, I know I have seen bc jewelry over the years, just cant remenber who? I do use a whole punch, not sure of brand but works good, so hard to cut perfect circles. on the butterfly KC, the butterfly was a stick pin for memos, I cut most of the pin off left just enough to stick in the beads,added after the beads melted enough to stick it in, the red one is a clip on ear ring layed over red beads, the other was a charm I just layed on after beads melted so much, but not finished, the frist KC is paper with a small bubble thing and a dragonfly sticker, the rest is just plastic beads, you can use those name beads,spell out mom for a mothers day gift,not sure but some are plastic if so add toward the end so they dont melt much just enough so they stay, you can add a glass bead for accent, (glass beads wont melt in our ovens )lots of ideas there. while the beads are melting you can take another bc and press down on the beads to help them lay flatter, and fill out the cap better, you have to be quick cause they will harden up fast. hope this helps cant wait to see photos and see what you alls clever minds come up with.
