Preserve color of cheap 'silk' leaves?

Posted by concretenprimroses (My Page) on

I got some of those leaves from the dollar store for a project and have some left over. I was thinking of using them to make an old purse more interesting. Or something. Is there a way to preserve the color? I have some uv protective spray that I suppose I could use tho its expensive & I was saving it for upholstery and curtains.
Is there a home recipe that anyone knows of?

I read somewhere that hair spray would work, the pump kind, not the aerosole kind.
