Does It Just Happen To Me??

Does anybody else start more than one project at a time and then manage to mess up one of them with the other???!

Had retrieved the neatest old light fixture from the curb. Had it sitting in a metal stand and planned on using it to feed my squirrels in the yard. Had it setting in the stand on my kitchen bar and was also working on taking old rusty tacks out of the back of a large picture frame. You guessed it - the frame "scooted" on the bar and knocked the light fixture off onto the tile floor in the kitchen! Glass went everywhere! Now I'm down to working on ONE project until I get it done!

This happen to anybody else, or is it just me? LOL

I'm joking here, but I really am so ticked off.

I've usually got no less than a dozen projects going at anyone time.
I have "oops" moments all the time. Last one was I was replacing a broken window pane on my enclosed porch. I had everything out. Glass fit nearly perfectly into the spot I wanted it to go into. Get ready to put on the glaze and the glass slips thru the pane and onto the floor. Broke into two. I had to run to the hardware store and get another piece cut.
My bigger problem is getting all the materials together for whatever project I want to do. Seems just about anything I want to do requires at lest three trips to the store to get all the proper materials together. It's not a matter of my forgetting or getting the wrong parts it's the availablity of things.Seems there really is no such thing as one stop shopping when doing crafts or treasures.

Nope, you're not alone. I have several things started & have NO room on my work tables. Always knocking something over & making messes. I get frustrated & just quit for awhile. Wonder why I can't get anything done. I have 3 work spaces & they are all full of almost done stuf.

thanks for all the support guys....I really appreciate it! To answer some of your questions....I didn't get anything formal in writing from him, no contract, just an estimate in an email (my first mistake). He said he's licensed, etc, but I never asked for copies of his paperwork (2nd mistake). I did take some progress pictures, but they were more for my own fun (and to show here), so I don't have 'exactly' what I need....what I do have has proven to be helpful, though. I had the same experience as some of you in that he asked for 75% at rough-in, and I was worn out, so I just gave him a check. Again, I am just so so so happy that I was stronger when he asked for that final check. And I'm mad at myself for making the kind of stupid mistakes that I warn clients against all the time...the kind of things that I'm usually much more careful about. This whole job should have taken about 3 weeks....they started the gut on June 15th. We're just a wee bit behind schedule..... Now, for the update...as I write this the plumber from a large local plumbing/heating company is just finishing up (Yippeee!!!). DH wanted a reputable company to come assess the problem. Luckily, this guy has been able to fix it using a cartridge the other guy left in the box. He said the original plumber had installed it all wrong, but this fix makes it work without ripping the wall out. He is also fixing a leak in the drainpipe, where the pvc glue didn't set properly. So, for somewhat less than the dimwit plumber thinks he's owed, the new guy fixed all the problems. ***BIG sigh of relief*** We did not make another attempt to contact the old plumber, and that may come back to haunt me. Say, if he ever tries to claim the unpaid balance, or sue me for it. We did talk about it, but there was the issue of do we trust him now, and also when the new guy said he could fix it today, I wasn't about to let him walk out the door! Oh well, dimwit plumber can kiss my *ss if he thinks he's getting anything from me. I've learned my lessons....AND my bathroom is now functional!!!! :D

With seeing the background you picked for your site, I can understand why you see this granite as blah. It does look nice with the cabs but agreed it doesn't have "wow" factor. I do like the backsplash you picked but is also missing a bit of "wow" (though it does help). OTOH, your cabs are so absolutely gorgeous it's not really that noticeable. I'd suggest posting another thread asking for "wow" backsplash help. remodelfla is really, really good at picking out cool backsplashes. One note: I have a sample of this granite (or at least one that looks a lot like it) that I use as a trivet. Now with the note that mine probably isn't sealed (as it's a sample), be aware that it absorbs oil.

Great idea! When I refreshed/organized the pantry about 2 years ago I devoted one top shelf for the plastic horde and made a firm commitment to only 3 sizes and all identical, so all the small fit inside each other, same with mediums and large, they all stack together in one spot, next to them is a lid holder that keeps all the plastic lids for them, not all that organized but they're all in the same place. My hub likes to save large yogurt containers to put leftovers he cooks in so those all stack on the other side and an automatic ice cube container holds those lids (couldn't find another lid holder like the other one so whatever, it works). If I had drawers I'd likely stack them in one but this kitchen didn't come with them and the man isn't in the way of remodelling the kitchen any time soon so I'll likely remain drawerless for the foreseeable future. ;)

No need to wait for death to contribute to your library. I've contributed to some local ones for a number of years, earlier by cheque, which came from bank account, fed by pensions and return on investments - all of which had been taxed. After-tax money contributed to charities is worthwhile. But. A few years ago I transferred investments that had appreciated in value to a charity, received a receipt for the full current value (of about $100.00 per share) and had them forward various amounts to a couple of dozen charities. As I'd paid less than $4.25 per share, had I sold them, there'd have been a capital gain of about $95.80 and I'd have been taxable at regular rate on half of that, just under $48.00. As a gift to a charity, that capital gain was tax free. I've continued to follow that path for several years. Nah, never happens to me. I was working on a chandlier that was a recent curb find. First mistake, working outside on the patio table, second mistake, needed a screw driver to take lamp apart and started inside , bad mistake, as I opened the door to go inside a squirrel (probably one of the ones you were going to make a feeder for) jumped on the table and as he jumped off the entire glass fixture fell to the concrete. Don't need to tell you the rest of the story. Didn't need the screw driver then, after breaking all the glass, I ended up glueing violet glasses and using candles. It could not hurt more if I had paid real money for my find. In the end, I am quite happy with the results. Sometimes what seems to be a disaster turns into one of my most loved garden junk.

I've got so much stuff on my craft table on the porch that when the rats take a run thru it - they knock stuff off, nothing broken yet. Just a clatter in the middle of the night. I have a trap line set up now.

Craft? who can craft with all the junk everywhere? Right now I am trying to find room to paint some cans and jars - maybe if I move the paper-making supplies, the plants I don't anywhere else to put, the dehydrator, the pots from last year that I was going to paint etc. etc.. Anyone have to buy something because they can't find in the house!!?

Yep--I'm the master of disaster ..... there's always too many things going on at once . My problem is always losing things -- then when I look for them -- I start knocking stuff over left & right ~~

Oh, yes, it's soooo much easier just to buy something new than look all over for the 2 you already know you have . . . somewhere!!
