Southernfrenchie- Good point. Deep down I think I knew that I just need reassurance or a swift kick in the rump to keep things moving. Maybe at some point I'll see about using the floral on a cover. I'll have to wait awhile for that. Tina - I like this so much better than that linensource bedding too. While I do like it, I was trying to make something work. The black and white checks were the "masculine" to me in that bedding and really, it's not very masculine in comparison to the new fabrics. Kmcg - I didn't get a chance to look at the Chaps olive blanket yet but am planning to something this week. I think I'm going to wait until I have the pillows back from Nanny2a and on the bed before I buy one. I figure they'll have sales close to Christmas. I'll admit I'd like to find something cheaper than the sale price for the blanket since I'm already spending quite a bit on all this. I have a feeling it might be hard to find anything else olive that doesn't have shiny polyester trim attached! I'd like to still be able to paint, get new curtains, and a blind yet with what I have budgeted for the room. I'm pretty excited. I believe I'm going to order the fabric this week and get things rolling. This will all be so worth it in the end. I can't wait to walk into the room and see pretty things everyday that make me smile. Bed arrives tomorrow. Stay tuned!

WE get extra phone books from our neighbors who passes them out in the fall. One thing my son did was have the nerve to take one of the blocks from my compost bin to place under his snowmobile trailer's tongue when he got back. I did go out later at night to get the dog food bag and some more newspaper. Then in the morning, I could have gotten more newspaper, but didn't dare. (I loved how they talked amongst themselves in spanish to decide about taking them to where I live which is behind the new subdivision) They actually loaded all the cut grasses and raked up leaves and put them in their truck and took them to my house and unloaded them for me. I wasn't expecting such service. They said they would just dump them anyway. So, I scored big time in the goal of getting other people's mulch and having it delivered. Where is that thread anyway?! I told them they can dump more of their grasses. They weren't done with this big subdivision and they also mow the shared grassy area and little parks. So I told them feel free to dump the grass too! When the grass gets long enough to mow. Plus I got the main guy's card to have him do some pruning and other stuff for me. I think the crew was amazed that this blonde haired lady, driving a ford clubwagon was willing to load it up with all the tall grasses! Let alone talk to them, as some people in this manicured area probably wouldn't bother speaking to them. The vellux (might be microfleece though, not sure) I bought several years ago is now used on the futon/loveseat in the basement tv/computer area, mostly by the dog - the sizing was weird anyway; a queen size long enough to tuck in at the foot of the bed but the width barely reached the sides so making the bed with 'hospital corners' as is our preference was impossible. We bought an electric blanket in the king size which was on sale at Costco back in October so it is big enough to cover the two of us without one of us fighting for the thing in our sleep. There's also one of those old-school poly cotton blend blankets with the satin binding on all four sides on the bed now, which I think was bought from lands end. My winter jacket is also Lands End and I've been wearing it a lot more now that we've moved to NE from SoCal, don't know what I'll buy when it has to be replaced. Yes, we do occasionally get shocked by the static - normally once we're in bed that's not much of a concern, it's the static buildup from shuffling along the floor in slippers en route that gets us when we're getting into bed.

My DM gave us a king sized electric blanket about 50 years ago. It was two blankets, zipped together, with separate controls for each side. One side disappeared with our DS when he left home. My DH never used 'his side' of the blanket, but DS used it in his less-well-heated bedroom. The other side is still working beneath the mattress pad on my side of our bed. I turn it on when I'm getting ready for bed and off shortly after I get into bed. I'm now wearing some all-wool socklets in bed. I wish I'd discovered them a long time ago! We sleep under a percale top sheet, a mid-weight wool blanket, and a feather duvet. The window is open on all but the very coldest nights. Our bedroom door is closed with a draft dodger at the bottom.
