Any room in them for the glass marble things either flat or round? Glass flowers would break if tipped over so the length of stems has some bearing. i have 2 with 9 inch stems so would tip over unless vase was quite high. Even if you used GE II, if vase was too short it will be top heavy. I've seen the 9 in. stem ones in a clear stuff-looks like water but doesn't move but the vase comes up to about 2 inches from top of stem so talking 7 in. tall vase. Also some flowers, my bud is pretty compact but the blue one is spread out & so would fall over easier. Think you need to experiment around & have hands ready to grab the flowers, maybe someone else has better ideas!! Good luck!! Even resin wouldn't help if vase isn't tall enough! Jan

I think something like this that is rather fiddley might be a bad idea to try to make yourself. There are SO many parts to coordinate. Now if you were able to use hot glue and then perhaps wrap raffia or a pretty ribbon around them for extra security, that would be easier. You might at least consider something like that as a back-up plan. Oh, anytime you plan to glue anything to glass, test it first! There are certain types of glass that hot glue will never stick to (as I once discovered much to my chagrin!). Some alternative sources for twigs already wired together: matchstick blinds (check at Lowe's or Home Depot for the big porch-shading type; some are plastic, but others are bamboo), bamboo fencing (some heavy-duty cutting might be required), and bamboo placemats at places like Walmart, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Linens n Things. A friend of mine had a fall-themed wedding shower. We used twirly stems from the dried flower aisle. They stuck up out of flower arrangements. You could find the twirly stems, or they have various types of twigs now. Monkey ladder is one of my favorites, but it's for a BIG arrangement. Or you could collect stems from your own yard--if your house is the one your daughter grew up in, that might be a nice sentimental touch. ;-)

Allison, thanks for posting that more paper towel jars had been added. I contacted David T. Smith and spoke with Eric who was extremely helpful. According to Eric, more jars will be added each Friday at 10:00 AM Eastern time and they do accept special requests. The requests are shown to their artists who then decide if they want to take on the special request. Napagirl, Eric said the colors they use are blue, brown, green and a couple of yellows. When you have time, scroll through all their pottery pieces and see if there is a cobalt blue. I found this statement when reading about their pottery designs: Our "Redstone Pottery" has the look of salt glazed stoneware, but is actually earthenware pottery with a grey slip covering with typical cobalt blue decoration. I was told that David T. Smith has never priced a paper towel jar higher than $300. That will give us a target amount to begin saving for. Sarchlos, thank you for noting they had one with flowers. I liked the flowers but not the brown color. Hostagrams, you are right - the jar is an beautiful art piece that holds paper towels. .

What a cute idea! If it were my foot, LOL, I would mosaic the entire piece, then place a small tealight holder in the base. Hob Lob has small round glass holders which are small enough not to detract from your work. They run about 99 cents and in our area come in red, amber, blue, green and clear. They even go on sale half off now and then. Just an idea. I'm sure you can find one to go with your foot no matter how you mosaic it. Hope you will share pictures when you are finished. Have fun! KM
