Dh rescued this table from the neighbor as he was hauling it off to the dump, he realized that his wife might want to mosaic that!

so I did! checkers anyone?

Thanks, everyone, for all your compliments. So nice to hear such things from all my forum friends. I didn't think about it as I was designing the table, but I guess having skunk plates does make me sort of special. What I can't figure out is, why didn't any of you ask where you could get your own skunk plates??? Come to think of it, the fact that I actually collected a bunch of skunks does put my sanity into question. This tidbit of information that you've all learned about me is something not one other living person knew (even my husband and grown children). Now that you know, I'm asking that you keep it under wraps. :-P A nod to the color scheme: As the designers on HGTV are found of saying, I used the plates as my "inspiration piece" and went from there. Remember the pink and black bathrooms of the 50s? We had one and it was full-blown (along with an avocado and gold kitchen). Must go now, I've thought of another game table idea. Again, thanks for the cheering section.

My living room is a Tiki Lounge. I have a 1950's rattan/wicker bar with stools, bamboo stands with stemware, a fridge, and the main item is a large round glass-topped rattan table with matching chairs. I have friends over frequently to play cards and we have a great time. There are always people sitting at it during parties, so it comes in really handy. People tend father in groups of 2 to 4 for conversations and this is just the right size to promote some great socialization. ksn90...I would go for the bigger table if your room can take it. When we play cards at mine, I put a large glass lazy susan in the middle of the table to rotate the cards around...it works like a charm. Try the table...I think it will prove to be fun!!! Thank you!!! Um, the table and chair set weren't "cheap" but I know I did pretty good. I was able to get the lady to drop the price a couple hundred bucks; I saw a lot of people looking at it but it's over-the-top for most folks. It takes a special buyer and I knew she wanted to move it pretty bad---her place was oozing with furnishings and she needed the space. DH and I had backpacked Italy and were drooling over the inlaid wood furnishings there---we really wanted some of it but the cost in Euros and then shipping it over was too much. And the more intricate it gets, the more expensive. I hung on to some of the business cards hoping someday.... so this little game table had our names written all over it. ;) Lauraella, I'm a fan of the scrolls. I did not design them; my builder had me pick them out from a catalog (and I do not know the make or anything on them!). I have seen them in other homes but put together differently; i.e. my scrolls are double and face the same direction going up the staircase but on the juliet balcony, they butt up to one another in opposite directions. That is the only design part that I did.

I don't have a suggestion but want to mention that the $25 I spent on an air hockey table on craigslist is some of the best money I ever spent. If you are willing to entertain less than perfect options you may be able to get a great deal.

Thank you all, we had the neighbor over today for the inaugeral 1st checker game. He was amazed that it looked so good. I wish I had room for it but alas I think it will have to be sold... maybe I can buy more glass with the profit! LOL

Garden Potter, the mosaic was made with stained glass. No I don't sell anywhere but can send things to auction locally or hit an art show occasionally. I've personally never sold anything but a table I donated sold for 5000 once... Another donation will be up for sale in Nov, I'm waiting to see what it goes for - was a bowling ball.

I would love to get where I could do this for profit but finding the outlet for marketing is the tough part

Both items are gorgeous! I'd think any local antiques/collectibles or even a gardening center would love to sell your pieces. Good luck with finding an outlet for them, you are certainly talented and do beautiful work. Luvs
