Flowerfarmer (Patricia), Yes, I did mean growers bunches. I did really also want to try my hand at boquet making this year too. However, I am running into a time crunch here with the wacky weather and no greenhouse or hoophouse yet. I do hope to have both by next year but that isn't helping now. I just thought since I was running short on time and I already purchased the zinnia and sunflower seeds (hubby asked if I knew I had so many sunflower seeds, lol he hasn't even seen them all), I would try to plant complementary flowers instead of so many of this and that like I had originally planned. When do you direct seed the procuts? I thought I recalled one week before the expected last frost. If that is true, I should start planting them out in one week. However, it is so cold here I am wondering if I should wait for it to get warmer yet. I have various plugs I have planted in my basement under grow lights. It isn't the best of conditions so I am holding my breath to see what makes it to the gardens and all the way to being cutflowers. I do have some snaps and cosmos started but not nearly enough. I haven't looked for cosmos but all I find in snaps are dwarf varieties in the nurseries. I am hoping to find the taller ones soon as I think they are very lovely. Liza Lily, Thanks for the suggestions. I am having a time trying to find all of the varieties you guys and gals list here. The last several weeks have been pretty nuts. I really need to travel around to more greenhouses to see if I can find more on my wanted list. I have a couple of kinds of dill but I think both are the kind to use in dill pickles. I will have to check and see what the botanical names are if the packages even say. Well I have two more weeks until the last expected frost. Meanwhile I broke down and ordered The Flower Farmer: An Organic Grower's Guide to Raising and Selling Cut Flowers Lynn Byczynski and Flowers for Sale: Growing and Marketing Cut Flowers : Backyard to Small Acreage by Lee Sturdivant. Bonnie, thanks so much and no the sunflowers are not real. I'll post a close up so you can see them better. I have alot of sunflowers in my yard but kept forgetting to go cut some today and now it's dark. Nana, glad you enjoyed this table and thanks for your comments. I didn't like it for some reason so tweaked it some tonight. I still think it looks kinda square in the center but I don't have time to put a place setting in the back now. Jeanne, thanks but after looking at it today I didn't care for it so changed some things. I replaced the Garden Angel with the bird with TUDE. It reminds me of myself at times.LOL Not the angel DM taught me to be. Sure miss her and if she was here I'm sure I wouldn't get attitude like I do. She always taught me to be nice! That's just not always fun.LOL

Does the wall have to be green? The reason I'm asking is a beautiful color combo for vintage is a very pale yellow and the red on your trim. Since you already have a yellowish wall you probably haven't considered another shade of yellow. Also, it seems you're wanting to go lighter, right? I see green as being dark, no matter the shade. And also depressing for some reason which I can't figure out! But then again, everyone knows I'm not a green fan (only on walls unless it's a pastel green) so take what I say with a grain of salt. lol Although pale yellow-cream with dark red is beautiful together, and very vintage!

I do think it looks "primitive." There is nothing wrong with that in the correct setting, but if that isn't a look you want, don't do it. If you're handy enough to make this one, you can make a different one that doesn't look as simple. I agree with circuspeanut that part of the "rustic" appeal of this piece is the dark staining. I have a feeling with paint it might resemble a repurposed palette that someone painted. To me, that would lean towards industrial (palette) or primitive (simple design.) (I really hope the above doesn't sound like I'm being mean. I hesitated to reply as it is, but I do think the OP wants honest opinions.)
