We're also going to be re-doing - with a 54" vanity / 1 sink - in an alcove set-up. My sink will be rectangular 21"w - and I'm considering a 24" mirror centered with glass shelves on both sides filling the rest of the space. On the left side wall above the vanity, I'm considering a recessed medicine cab - 20-24"w and 30"h. That's the one I'll use to do my make-up. Now just trying to figure out lighting... :-) My look won't be traditional - Finally decided on bordeaux granite and now have to decide what tiles for floor and shower walls

We have a wall cabinet above our toilet and my tall husband hates it, always thinks he’s gonna bonk his head or it’ll fall on him. It’s coming down during our next reno in favor of a bigger vanity. If you’re short maybe a wall cabinet is ok, but then you’re reaching around the toilet to get to things (don’t drop them!). I’d say it’s not ideal and would look for other options if you can.

I checked on there. They only offer 3 sizes, and they are all considerably larger than the lights in the current mirror. I dont know if they could be cut without cracking or breaking

I feel the mirror needs to extend higher which you can do if you use a horizontal vanity light. Here's a very rough example mock up with a West Elm slim framed medicine cabinet (suggest the larger size if it works with the cabinet) and a George Kovacs horizontal light. I'm trying to follow the same lines of the cabinet, top and bottom. Hopefully a pro will weigh in on the necessity of that. I feel you need a slim framed unit as the space is tight and the slim frame will give the eye a resting spot. Same with the light, keep it simple. Functional items in a bathroom create a lot of visual activity so I think these items should be calm. Can you raise the towel ring? It looks low to me. Nice refresh!
