floor stenciling with craft paint
Comments (3)We did the upstairs where our bedrooms are. We didn't have nice hardwood down, but couldn't afford to put down carpeting like we wanted so I painted them. I just used regular latex paint and kids painted floor with folk art paints for the fun stuff. Then we sealed it with a couple coats of urethane or something like made for floors (it was latex I think). It held up incredibly well and cleaned great with the finish over the top....See MoreBest way to paint over existing stencil?
Comments (4)Did you do the stencil? If you did then you know what kind of paint was used. If it's acrylic or latex, a good blockout primer should be all you'll need. You might get away with not priming but I'd hate to wake up in a few months to find that it bled through. If the stencil is oil - there are oil paint sticks and paint pots that are in decorative painting - then you REALLY need a blockout primer for sure. The other thing to do whether the stencil is oil or latex is to lightly sand it - just a few big swipes with a fine sanding block. You may not see it now but the shape of the stencil can telegraph through a new coat of paint....See MoreSample paint and Stencil question
Comments (4)It was a good decision, though, agmss. I believe SW is one of the companies where the sample is not the same formula as their real paint....See Morepaint or stencil?
Comments (13)I understand your wanting to repeat the rug since it's so pretty. I tried painting your stools different colors and came to the conclusion that it's perfect the way it is. The wood stools and plain bar wall allow the rug to command the attention it deserves. In case you don't believe me... I have two more renderings, but as usual, Houzz won't let me load them. So trust me on this one....See Moregw:craftylady-2006
